If you’re traveling up/down 95 through North Carolina, be sure to take a 4 minute detour off the highway to have the best home-cooked meal in the middle of your travels. The menu changes daily, food is fresh, people are super nice and friendly. Get the hush puppies, the baked beans (!), and if there is BBQ that day, get that too! Also inexpensive.

Outstanding country cooking!

Charlene, our waitress was excellent! She was so attentive our glass never even got half empty before she refilled it!

The chicken was delicious

The fish and shrimp were excellent, but the star of the show was the fried okra!

1st time here. Extensive menu with free ice cream with every meal. Food was outstanding as well as the staff. Pleasantly surprised when I saw the seafood menu. Flounder, shrimp, & Oyster platter was my choice and very happy it was. Definitely going back and may bring my wife .

It’s a down home as you can get. And, Angel, at least that’s what I think her name was, was a terrific server, very friendly with that sweet Carolina drawl. We each had a BBQ sandwich, but with an interesting twist at least for us.

You see, we’re used to the red BBQ sauce but in Eastern NC that have a vinegar based sauce which is more infused in the meat rather than spread out over it. While we still favor the red, this was real interesting. We never forget eating BBQ in Columbia, SC where they use a mustard based sauce. Never realized there were so many varieties.

Anyway, we just passing through on our way home from FL and rather than eat yet another McDonald’s off of I95 we google restaurants from the car and go into the local towns for some different scenery and good cooking. We sure found it at Dunn’s and we think you will too. But please be aware they are closed on Sat and Sun.

I normally would highly recommend this place but this particular day probably wasn’t for me. I came and order the pork BBQ I really wanted to try the fried chicken but didn’t have time but wasn’t a big fan off the pulled pork gave me a bad taste so I decided to not waste my time to finish it. Mash potatoes was great as always! I tried the boiled bbq potatoes wasn’t a fan of that either I was hoping the it would be the same bbq that they use on their bbq chicken on Thursday I think that would’ve better. But overall great place, great atmosphere, good people, I’ll stick my Thursdays moving forward.

This place was packed. I knew it would be good. BBQ Pork was tender and moist. I like beets, greens and hush puppies were all good too. Spent just over $11 plus tip. Good value. Sorry the pics are empty. I was hungry. Ha

Friendly customer service, relaxing atmosphere, country style cooking. The food was hot and fresh, they cook the chicken fresh by order so expect about a 20 min wait, which is well worth it. The food was excellent!! The Field Peas were great!

The husband and I were passing through and decided to stop here for dinner before continuing our ride home.

Thank you so much, we will revisit when we are back in the area.

Many blessings!!

If you’re a fan of country cooking do yourself a favor and stop in to eat! We found Kim’s by Google while traveling on I-95 and what a treat it was! Our waitress was sweet with a beautiful southern drawl. The food was delicious! They started us out with hushouppies. I had a burger and he had the BBQ plate….both phenomenal. Their potato salad was incredible and apparently a local favorite. I never drink sweet tea but I tried theirs and it was perfect, sweet but not icky sweet, so it was nice. The big surprise was every meal comes with a small cup of ice cream. We were stuffed, but it was so worth it! The people are sweet, the food was great and filling and the price can’t be beat. Go support the oldest restaurant in Dunn, you won’t be sorry!
