First thing, it smelled like cigarettes when you first come in and it looks really dingy and old inside but usually the foods always good at these type of places. WRONG! Food was just okay and super duper overpriced for what it is. Service was basic as we didn’t really ask for much so all the waitress did was bring our drinks, banchan and food. She grilled some of meats as they should bc it’s a Korean bbq spot! Then comes the check which was extremely overpriced for lunch for 4 people. We paid and tipped in cash, waitress comes back questioning the tip saying the tip should be 20% minimum. IF THAT WAS THE CASE THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE A SIGN STATING THAT! It did not state that on the receipt and we felt pressured to change it bc she was getting loud and causing a scene while hovering over us and watching us to change it. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN! It’s not worth the price and embarrassment. There are so many other Korean bbq places in the area that are just as good if not better and you won’t get harassed! No one should ever feel pressured to pay a specific amount of tip as it is optional! To the waitress working here, be mindful of people’s situation as you do not know what people are going through and that this could’ve been a splurge for certain people to go out to eat. For you to berate and demand customers for more tip was extremely disrespectful and you should be ashamed of yourself! This restaurant will definitely lose business because of HER actions, she knows who she is and I hope she reads this as this is not the first review of her demanding more tip from customers!
Edit: My 2.5 year old had bad diarrhea which induced a fever after eating the bulgogi. We are certain it was the beef.
We took the barbecue your own meat option,
I loved that we cooked everything on coal
Our server helped us a lot with the cooking , the pork was brought to us cooked .
We had a nice time, friendly staff , ample of parking and many options to choose from the menu . Kids didn’t enjoy the shrimp Sinai so much , the tofu soup was a bit sour so that too wasn’t so enjoyable by them . On the whole we had a good experience.
What made the experience worse was the service. The waitress confronted us about the tip and essentially pressured us into increasing it. We were made to run our card again to leave more. That felt incredibly uncomfortable and inappropriate. Tips are voluntary, guests should never feel bullied into paying more.
Very disappointing experience overall.
I am the regular visitor.
Their foods are so delicious and using fresh ingredients.
Well known to the local residence and friends among Koreans And Americans who loves Korean Food.
Overall I would say that this restaurant is average. I came here with my family and we ordered a variety of dishes (jop chae, bibimbop, etc.). The food didn’t blow us out of the water nor was it bad in any way shape or form. Although the prices were far higher than comparable Korean restaurants we’ve been to. Not sure why they charge so much considering their food is adequate at best.
Service was decent and the waiters were mostly pleasant. I would say if you’re used to American-style service you’ll probably be in for a little shock. The waiters don’t hover around you constantly checking in, which is good in that they aren’t trying to rush you out. However, when it’s time to go you’ll likely have to grab their attention to get the check.
The restaurant is very clean and a decent size. Nice place to try out but likely will not be back anytime soon.
