Wide variety of authentic Vietnamese cuisine! They even have a pho bar making classics like pho, bun Rieu, bun Bo hue, and even Chinese style like shrimp wontons. There’s also a grill station serving shrimps, grilled oysters, and even chicken feet! Make sure to try all the different house made sauces they offer. And don’t forget traditional appetizers like spring rolls/egg rolls and banh xeo! For seafood- the marinated crabs were a hit, along with big and plump escargot- make sure to dip in the special sauce! The dessert station served up the classic rainbow ice and mung beans. There was even a small sushi station- which wasn’t a hit. The restaurant area is huge and for the price of $32 per person for dinner, you honestly can’t go wrong. All in all, definitely worth the price for wide variety delicious and authentic Vietnamese cuisine!

My friends and I came here for dinner to raise some money for the Buddhist organization to build a new temple in Tampa, Florida. There were about a thousand people attending the meeting. The vegetarian dishes were very good. Kim Son restaurant is a great place for dining, parties, meetings, and weddings. We had a great time at the meeting because there were many singers performing for entertainment.

We were super excited to try this place for the first time but left disappointed. There weren’t many selections compared to a regular buffet, but we appreciated the uniqueness of the food. However, we were very let down by the freshness. Many of the dishes, such as the spring rolls, chicken, and octopus, were hard to chew. Some were too salty. The chicken feet, despite their orange color, had zero flavor. The made-to-order noodles and porridge had great flavor, but the toppings looked nothing like the pictures.

Food was wonderful!! I was expecting more options but the variety was good whether you like seafood, beef, chicken, and other delicacies like escargot. I tried sooo many things I never tried before and actually enjoyed them! Lol

Service was excellent!!! Nothing more, nothing less!! Price was decent. Not cheap. Not expensive. I didn’t eat much but tried many things so the $32 was worth it for me.

Atmosphere was nice! The dining area could use a few updates but nothing major. Also I’d like to see another station with more options like crab legs, fried chicken, chicken and broccoli, etc.

I felt the Vietnamese atmosphere in this place. I loved having chance to try all the authentic Viet food with small amount, so my stomach does not burst. Servers know when to clean all the used dishes for you after you finish. They also offer variety of deserts like chè, sweet bakery and drinks such as fresh sugar cane juice and Thai tea. Price varies depending on weekdays or weekends/holidays.

There aren’t many Vietnamese buffets in the States, so it was exciting to learn that Houston has one. The food is very straightforward buffet-style, exactly what you’d expect, nothing more, nothing less. It was a good experience overall, but would I come back? Probably not.

Kim son was on our list of place to visit for our family trip to Houston. The atmosphere and service was good. The food not so much. The place was way over hype for being a Vietnamese food buffet. The food was mediocre at best. We got a Bun Bo Hue and Mi quan from the noodle bar, the soup lack flavor, and maybe it was us but we never seen the mi quan noodle looking like that before. We try banh uot and it was cold and chewy, same thing with banh beo.
We have high hope for desert bar, and also end up disappoint. With the taste a bit off, like it been left out for a while. This is when we arrive about 10 – 15 min from their open time.
Overall, it was something we want to try and can cross of our list

Amazing grilled oysters (I ate at least two dozen ). The roast duck, scallion oil chicken, and fried Vietnamese porridge (Cháo Lòng) were all delicious, especially the organ meats. Fresh cane sugar juice was sweet and addictive.

There are many options to choose for Vietnamese buffet. Love their snails food, seafood, street food, crispy pancake, mini savory pancakes and dessert options including sugar cane drink… Yummy! Definitely stop by if visiting Houston. Good price for good food!

*only one concern at the end of the review*
Mainly billed as a Vietnamese restaurant and they do offer quite a selection on their buffet. Some folks may feel the pricing is somewhat high ($24+ adult lunch and $34+ adult dinner) before tip but it all depends on who you’re comparing them to. A good example would be the UMI Premium Seafood restaurants which is $1.50 more at lunch but UMI offers lobster, crab, oysters etc. on their buffet, then again, neither can be categorized into any of those $14. Chinese buffets.
The selections I chose were pretty tasty and fresh so they obviously have a great kitchen staff.
The wait staff person did an adequate job checking on the group and removing unnecessary plates, etc.
Food service was quick and friendly (your selection was handed to you…cafeteria style) and overall it was a good experience.
My only concern has to do with their so called “VIP Club” that is supposed to give you loyalty points for patronizing their locations. The server was given my QR code to scan and my phone #, came back to the table, presented the bill and indicated everything looked good. I checked my loyalty account a few times since dining there and no updates have been posted. I even emailed their contact Leo Tran who is listed on their website and a week later, still no response. I called the restaurant and the first person didn’t know what I was talking about, with the second person telling me they haven’t utilized that VIP Club program in quite a while. Of course they did happen to send me a birthday bonus about 5 months ago AND the program can still be accessed via their website. Nevertheless, at this time I would warn folks about the possibility of personal information being “harvested” through these programs especially since nobody I’ve been able to talk to knows anything.
Lunch totals exceeded $100 with a generous tip out and the experience was good but their VIP Club situation has me a bit nervous about how the information I gave when I signed up, is being used.
