I guess ever since Covid they decided to keep it carry out Only, which is fine with me because then we don’t have to dine in and tip the waiter or waitress and you get the food that you want and eat it at home. They have a lot of great deals and especially for lunch specials. Please see the menu as you can get a nice lunch meal for $10 which is perfect for students and non-students as well. I always find Asian food to be facing me healthy options if you want to be good to your diet habits. There is no parking lot but it’s on the street and you have to pay the Park Chicago app or on the little kiosk with your credit card. The only gripe I have is that I hate it when they not the bag so tight it takes me 15 minutes to open it, and it hurts my fingers and then sometimes if I have to cut it with a scissor, I have to waste the plastic bag which I would rather use at least a few times or for garbage because I don’t like plastic bags to be wasted because it’s bad for the environment. Please do the knot where You can undo it with just one bow pulled. Thank you. Food was hot and yummy!

Food tastes like it was all slightly burnt in an air fryer. Just go ahead and walk down to the Trader Joe’s down the street and pick yourself up something out of the frozen food isle. I can guarantee you that it’s better than the katsu, if you can follow directions. Everything tastes as If Sysco Foods opened up a Japanese takeout place. Very disappointed.

I feel bad giving this place 3 stars, but our food was very bad. We ordered a few different sushi rolls and it might be some of the worst sushi I’ve ever had. The rice was overseasoned, with some bites having a shocking amount of rice vinegar. The taste of rice vinegar lingered in my mouth long after we had finished eating. The rice was also overcooked, leading it to be mushy. My wife absolutely loves sushi and she was taking the rice off the rolls because she couldn’t eat it. I’m giving it 3 stars because the service was great, and I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that their other Japanese food is better, and maybe we got sushi on a bad day. That said, we definitely won’t be back here for sushi.

Went here for lunch with my coworker the other day and it was pretty good. Amazing prices with rolls as low as like $6 and their lunch special is even better. I would order ahead if you don’t have 15 minutes to wait. The quality was pretty good for the price, but it wasn’t the BEST sushi I ever had but I definitely go back!

Adorable BYOB authentic Japanese restaurant in Hyde Park. Very authentic oyakodon, katsudon, gyudon, etc in addition to the more traditional Americanized options, like various types of sushi and rice. It is small and intimate and perfect for a casual double date. We had a great time and thought everything was delicious!!

Run by a wonderful family who makes wonderful food. We eat here a few times a month and love the lunch specials as well as the full dinners. Great tempura, great Katsu and Katsudon. I don’t trust a lot of places this far away from the sea to serve sashimi but Kikuya is always fresh and flavorful.

Actually everything was great with our Ubereats delivery, the food, the presentation, and the neat packaging; it just may be that they need to a little more seasoning to all of the food….I would highly suggest this. I don’t like to add a lot of salt to my food either way; so me saying that says a lot. I have to say I love the fact the miso and salad is included w the entree with most places I order from this is extra cost. Other than that after adding my own seasoning everything was delicious! Will def order again either way!

Disgusting. Served raw tuna that went bad, could not even chew through it. Would have been better of going to grab my food at an animal shelter

Freshly fried tonkatsu lunch. Can’t beat $10.50 for a lunch special (+ $2 for salad). Amazing ginger salad dressing. No complaints and will be back.

This is without out a doubt the best Japanese restaurant in the area, especially if authenticity is important to you.
