I am staying nearby at The Carleton Hotel and really wanted Indian food for my birthday as a treat while visiting. I saw that Khyber Pass was the only restaurant in the Western Suburbs, so I figured I would give it a try. The mixed reviews gave me pause, but I am so glad I ordered!

I placed an order online for take-out, and it was ready shortly after I arrived. I ordered a good variety of food, as I have not enjoyed the cuisine in a while.

The garlic naan is fantastic. Very flavorful. Also love the saag paneer (spinach and cottages cheese with spices). I only ordered a half order, and you can see in my photo (dark green container) how large the portion size is! I also ordered samosas, keema samosas, and lamb vindaloo. I have never had lamb vindaloo, but this is delicious! Boneless lamb in a very flavorful spicy sauce. They also gave me a generous portion of perfectly-cooked rice, and I look forward to stirring half of it into my vindaloo and half into the paneer.

Maybe I’m just easy to please, or maybe folks in Oak Park are a bit snobby? I found the food to be delicious and a good value and am surprised by all the mixed reviews. If I lived locally I’d be here regularly.

Ordered take out for my birthday and it was absolutely amazing!! Food is SO insanely good! Flavors overflow and it definitely shocks the body to have so much of it (in a good way) Will be coming back again to dine in. Thank you!

Authentic, delicious perfection from the Samosas and accompanying sauces to the garlic naan, to the Lamb biriyani with raita , malai kofta to the global favorite Chicken tikka masala. And masala tea – outstanding service and food that is worth the price and difficulty parking nearby! Worth the trip and we will be back often !!! Support this local treasure and enjoy showing friends who need to learn how to eat a new kind of cuisine- this will be a great introduction for newcomers to the genre of Indian food and help you make special memories and plans for future culinary adventures together!

It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and we went with some friends who were back in town and eager to revisit one of their old favorites. We’re so glad they introduced us to it.

We started with vegetable pakoras and samosas — the pakoras were decent, but the samosas really stood out. They were fresh, flavorful, and clearly made from scratch , definitely not the frozen kind.

For our mains, my husband had the Karahi Gosht and I ordered the Seekh Kabob, along with mango lassis to drink. Both dishes were excellent — full of flavor yet perfectly mild, which was a pleasant surprise since we both have a low spice tolerance.

We finished with the badami sheer, which was just the right level of sweetness and absolutely delicious.

Overall, the food, service, and ambiance were all fantastic. We’ll definitely be back.

A quiet and warm atmosphere. Delicious food! The Khyber Pass Biryani was amazing. Only negative: One of the workers was watching something kinda loud on his phone which was a little disturbing.

My husband and I visited Khyber Pass for the first time, and it was also our first time trying Indian food—overall, a really good experience!

I ordered the goat curry, and he had the chicken masala—both were flavorful and well-prepared. We also tried a variety of breads, which were absolutely lovely, especially fresh from the oven. Warm, soft, and perfect for soaking up the sauces. The staff was very attentive and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in.

The only real letdown was the ghost kebab (lamb kebab). What I received felt more like two large chunks of beefsteak tomatoes and barely any lamb—just two small pieces. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I ordered it a second time in the same visit… and got the exact same result. Honestly, it’s not worth the price, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

That aside, the rest of our meal was great, and we’re glad we stepped out of our comfort zone to try something new. Just skip the lamb kebab or any type of kebab if you go.

Finally!!! A DELICIOUS Indian restaurant that’s in the area and we don’t have to hike one hour to get to! The venue is so nice, cute and cozy. Lots of nice decor and nice wine options. Delicious Indian beer.

Samosas are always hit or miss for me, this place is definitely a hit!

The butter chicken is soft and flavorful.

Chicken tikka masala is on point!

The Naan was pure perfection.

And the rice amazing!

Everything here so far was well worth it. Totally recommend!

To the owners – I’m writing this in hopes that you actually read this and it helps you but you have to get a new chef! Your food doesn’t taste at all like it’s supposed to your curries are completely off your butter chicken doesn’t taste proper at all it’s watery and thin has no flavor.

It doesn’t seem like your naan is actually Naan? I’m guessing you source it as pita bread from some wholesaler?

If you don’t wanna take my word for it simply go to any other Indian restaurant in Chicago or any neighboring suburb and you can easily see how different their dishes taste versus yours it’s also important because you’re the only Indian Restaurant in Oak Park you have to do better than this this is shockingly bad

I will remove this review once you have confirmed you have a new chef
