Englewood’s Main Street isn’t short of restaurants and eateries. Tons of cuisines are represented on this short set of blocks, and there’s a good selection of chains and small businesses. But when it comes to Thai food, there’s just two, and Khao Thai is one of them. Inside, the space is fairly large but it’s kept relatively quiet and intimate with lots of two-tops.

Our crispy calamari appetizer was a bit of a letdown. While hot and crispy, they seemed to have been breaded and fried as clumps. Even the accompanying sweet chili sauce couldn’t mask that tough, rubbery texture. Entrees fared just a little better. My pad see ew was a little bland but perked up with some chili sauce dribbled over the plate by the spoonful. I chose beef as my protein and while there weren’t a ton of beef pieces, the few I had were wonderfully tender.

Service was friendly and lovely. Our server (who I also assume is the owner) welcomed us warmly and was quick to check on us. I was endeared by the owner’s young daughter who came by to help and made sure all our water glasses stayed filled.

I know we’re riding the giant inflation wave, but the serving size felt a little paltry for the prices. Even after an appetizer and two entrees, we both had enough stomach space after dinner to fill up with nuggets at a nearby fast food restaurant.

This restaurant used to be reliable, but my recent visit was disappointing. I hadn’t been here in a few months and decided to order takeout. The person on the phone told me it would be ready in 25 minutes. When I arrived right on time, I still had to wait another 20 minutes—45 minutes total for lunch takeout, despite only two tables being occupied in the dining room.

The food was even worse. The Pad Thai was bland and completely lacking flavor; I had to drown it in sriracha just to make it edible. Sadly, the quality has gone downhill, and I won’t be returning.

This restaurant has become our family’s absolute favorite! The staff are incredibly kind, and every single dish is just bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming—it’s the perfect spot for family gatherings or catching up with friends. We’ve tried different dishes every time we’ve visited, and they never disappoint. Highly, highly recommend! Once you visit, you’ll see why we’re head over heels for this place!

Have been coming here for several years. Close to ten, if memory serves. Unfortunately I’ve been really let down my last 3 visits. Normally (before) the rice container was packed for my take out, as I’ve always been for lunch time. But the last three times, they only fill it about 3/4 of the way, and between last time and this time, there appears to be no difference in portion size, despite me ordering the lunch portion last time and the dinner/full portion this time. Kind of can’t help but feel ripped off, having paid for more but gotten the same. I’ll try the other Thai places as my portion is not filling.

It also seems like they’re closed while driving by, very dim, half the lights are off, the windows at the sidewalk isn’t very clear or inviting. I really hope this place can turn it around.

My friend and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and there was only one server for the entire restaurant. There was a little girl also helping and I presume this was the owner’s daughter. Both were very friendly and welcoming but it took a long time to get things. We ordered two main dishes and unfortunately neither of them were good. One of them tasted like it was sitting in the fridge for a few days and then microwaved. The other was barely enough food for one person and it was not a tasty dish. We also ordered an appetizer which never arrived. I’ve been reading the reviews here to learn that this restaurant is under new management. Hopefully they can use these reviews to improve the food and service because if they don’t, I can’t see this restaurant staying in business for very long.

The new owners are great people, extremely friendly, and very authentic. I’ve been to other Thai places that I thought were great and Khao Thai blew them out the water. It was a soft opening and they were really prepared. The fact that the food was so good and I was there on the first day open really speaks to their experience. Everything was on point. My wife is extremely picky and still enjoyed the food. The portions are huge so I ended up over-ordering but I learned for the next time. I had chicken curry puffs and chicken Satay as appetizers and bbq beef, pineapple fried rice with chicken and basil fried rice with pork as main courses. To drink I had Lychee Iced Tea and the Thai Iced tea and both were phenomenal.Everything was great and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great authentic Thai food. The owner had a place in NYC prior to this so you can expect to get top notch Thai. Best of luck Khao Thai!!

I absolutely loved this Restaurant! Having lived in Thailand for 6 years, I tend to be picky about where I buy thai food in the states. I’m so happy that I gave Khao thai a chance. I was not disappointed! Everything from the food, service and atmosphere was just great! I will definitely be eating here on a regular! P.s. the Thai taco appetizer is something special…

Friend brought me here bc she said she had the best Thai dish here. We came here during lunch. Casual dining. The waitress was very friendly. I ordered Drunken Noodles from the lunch menu which came with spring roll. I also ordered Beef with Basil sauce. My friend ordered shrimp fried rice which she said it was really good. I also enjoyed my noodles. It wasn’t all stuck together like other places. The flavor was lot better than most restaurants. It didnt just taste like soy sauce. Basil sauce was okay. It lacked the strong basil flavor which I usually taste at other Thai restaurants. I would definitely be back to try other dishes.

Visiting from out-of-town, needed a Thai fix late-night, and they were the closest.

BUT!!!

In spite of it being a matter of convenience, I did not regret my choice! Staff was very helpful and friendly, and they are the FIRST Thai restaurant to EVER (from Missouri to Maine, and everywhere in between) make it spicy enough for me my first time in. It took a little bit of talking, but eventually I convinced her I wanted it at least twice as hot as what they consider their top tier of heat, and they delivered! ❤️ The only thing that caught me off guard was that the chicken was lightly breaded, whereas I’ve never had it breaded in “Cashew Nut Chicken” at other places, but it was still very good. Chicken was perfecly done, great texture, no gristle, and the vegetables were fresh and plentiful!

Only in town for a few days, but will probably end up back there again before I leave.

Food was one of the best ever. Good quality and worth the price. Love the Thai Iced Tea, not too sweet. Spicy glass noodle salad is a must.

I’ve been here twice.
Got different server each time.
Both of them wasn’t really attentive.
Hard to get their attention even it’s not busy. Might consider just a take out next time so I don’t have to waste money on tips when I barely get a service.
