Keystone’s Mac Shack, an extension of Keystone Bar & Grill, is a fast-casual restaurant established in 2016. The retro-style space located directly across from the University of Cincinnati’s campus embraces the idea of a quick stop for comfort food. The menu features eight different varieties of Keystone’s signature award-winning mac and cheese, plus a unique mac featured daily, created by our experienced chefs. All of the Mac Shack’s menu items are lovingly prepared and made from scratch using fresh ingredients, many of which are locally sourced.

Food had some serious potential. Key word being “had.” $9 for the arcade fire and you all can’t even put atleast 1 whole chicken strip in it?! There were 2 bites of chicken and maybe half of a strip of bacon. If I wanted plain Mac and cheese then I would have ordered that and saved money. I am not sure if that is supposed to be the portion sizes the restaurant made standard or the fact that the lone worker was more focused on talking on the phone through her AirPod during my order and then proceeded to ignore me standing there to add some burnt cookies to my order while I was the lone customer in the store. Extremely disappointed.

I went to Mac Shack last week and it was amazing. I was eating my mac and cheese, and got one with jalapenos, and it was a bit too spicy. Danny came to the rescue with a glass of milk and saved my mouth from being on fire. Thank you, Danny, for making my Mac Shack experience unforgettable!

I didn’t realize it was Mac Monday until I put in my order and the employee kindly told me about it. I went with the Fleetwood Mac which is pesto, tomato, and mozzarella. I wish it would’ve had a little more tomato, but overall it was high quality Mac and cheese.
I had spent less than $10 for a full sized drink and a large portion of Mac and cheese.

Ive went to Mac Shack for years and have always had a great experience! Danny was very helpful and even put on a song for our kid for us while we were waiting for our food to come out. Will be stopping by here whenever I have the chance!

Normally, I wouldn’t consider mac and cheese for a meal. However, I recently tried it during a free lunch at my workplace.
The menu offered a variety of mac and cheese options, and I chose the one with Sriracha and crumbled potato chips, along with a soft drink. Naturally, the company manager handled the online payment.
My order arrived on time and was still warm. The food came in a small aluminum tray, covered by a thin lid.
Although the portion was small, it was dense. The aroma was rich, and the taste was soft and creamy. The Sriracha added some flavor, though it wasn’t very noticeable. The chips remained crunchy, thanks to the lack of excess liquid.
I finished it as quickly as it had arrived. I’m not sure whether my order was a small, medium, or large, but this portion was unacceptable as any sizes by U.S. standards. If this were Japan, I would totally believe that it was a large. Since I wasn’t the one paying, I will still give this shop a perfect rating for the quality of the food.

My boyfriend and I came in on 10/09/2025 around 2 PM. There was only one girl working when we walked in. It was our first time here, and we were trying to figure out what to order and just make sure nothing had pork in it, but she wasn’t helpful at all — if anything, she was rude and dismissive. When I asked if one of the meals came with regular chicken or fried chicken, she got visibly irritated. I politely asked if it could be swapped for fried, and she seemed angry about the question.
On top of that, she was on the phone the entire time with someone on speaker, which made the atmosphere even worse. By the time we got our food, it honestly tasted terrible — I don’t know if it was just made out of frustration, but it was not good.
We’re always respectful to restaurant staff and always tip well, but this kind of experience really makes people not want to come back.
To the owners — i’m not being hostile.. Running a restaurant must be hard, but your staff’s customer service and professionalism seriously need improvement.

Got the Pink Floyd Mac with jalapeños. The serving was so big! I didn’t even finish. The Mac was creamy and the baked cheese on top was incredible. I got in just as they opened so everything was really quick. I love how many toppings there were and how close it was to campus. By the way, the leftover Mac reheats really well – 7 min at 350 was perfect.

Stopped here after a concert, ordered the Buffalo Springfield. When I first pulled it out, I was a little disappointed with the size compared to the price, but the tray was much deeper than I originally thought, and I was stuffed after finishing. I am a huge fan of Blue Cheese, so I loved the amount, but if you only like a little, I would be aware that there is a lot.

We were having drinks next door at Dive Bar waiting for a show at Bogarts. Ordered a small Mac and Cheese with chicken, bacon and ranch. The young man behind the counter said it would take about 10 minutes. So I told him I was next door and would come back to pick it up. But…he carried it over to us at the bar when it was ready. That’s above and beyond service. Plus the mac and cheese was delicious and just enough for two.

Craving some good ole Mac n cheese? The Cordon lightfoot (I add onion) is one of my favorites! The powerhouse is another top of my list. The house made Oreo pie is delicious as well! Go get you some comfort food, sit out in the courtyard and people watch.
