Best food I had in Key West unexpectedly. I got the Key Wester Sandwich and still dream about it a month later. While the owner was cooking it he saw me looking at the sauces and asked what I was looking for and I told him I like mine saucy, he handed me the dog and said “try it”, it was perfect! The sauces were spectacular and the fresh cilantro complimented the sausage dog perfectly! I can’t wait to go back to key west solely for this food cart!

Most amazing hidden gem of Key West. He’s usually there on the weekend nights around 10pm. On Sat we came out of a shop and grabbed one of the taco dogs…it was so delicious we had to come back the next night and we waited for 2 hours for him to show up just to get more taco dogs! The owner is one of the nicest we’ve ever met. We had to come back and tip him after we finished our dogs and he was so ecstatic that we loved them that he gave us 2 more for free! Totally sweet and wonderful. Thank you for the awesome experience!!.. Literally THE best thing about key west .. You can keep your tourist traps and alcohol and over priced food and hotels and everything key west ill take the taco dogs any day.

Amazing….awesome…get a taco dog!
This guy does it right. He has a system and a recipe for the way he cooks. The food is incredible!!! Had it two days in a row. Being a Chicago guy I can be picky….especially when it comes to a hot dog. His Taco Dog should be the official hot dog of Key West!!

Parked in front of a strip club. It’s the only food option aside from Wendy’s at 2 am.
Talked to owner Josh about being from Annapolis, a few hours later when my brother was drunk (on duval at 2am, sorry not sorry) he called Josh “Dr. Sausage” while waiting for our food, in a joking manor (it was supposed to be a compliment).
Apparently was taken completely the wrong way, because Josh- the owner, then wanted to physically fight him. Called the bouncers over from Rick’s and alleged we would never be allowed back in. Bouncer seemed confused.
He actually refused to sell me two $15 hotdogs, which is pretty impressive. So bravo if you can turn away that kind of business.
Not sure if Josh was on drugs, but he has terrible customer service.
Otherwise, it’s like any other mediocre street-cart. A residential-grade grill, meat left warming. Wouldn’t eat here unless I was drunk, but if you’re going to order drunk, certainly don’t comment on him being a Doctor of Sausage.
I’d take my business anywhere else.

It’s been years since we’ve returned to KW due to the machinations called covid.
This food cart (hotdog cart) is usually just outside of Ricks Bar (across from Irish Kevin & Sloppy Joes). He arrives later in the evening and stays there late til 3:00am and maybe.later. I know at least 3am from experience…
He has hotdogs and other items but you don’t want those, what you really want is the Italian sausage sandwich called the “Key Wester.”
As of today Aug 7, 2022 2:30 early morning, or late night, depending on ones perspective, it’s $10 loaded with toppings; onions, cilantro, peppers, etc, etc.. Its a cornucopia of flavors and I believe you’ll thank me later.
In the Rick Bar complex you’ll have options of pizza and other fried foods, but nothing will compare to this Italian sausage sandwich that is grilled right in front of you and believe me it’s fantastic, especially after a few rounds and a late night of dancing and fun.

This was the best thing I ate on my whole trip to Key West!! It was definitely worth the price and it was just delicious. I can’t wait to go back there just to get another one!
