Kerouac’s is an homage to life on the American road and to feeling at home in unexpected places.
We serve fresh takes on American classics. We offer a dining experience that is both sophisticated and approachable. We aim to be a meeting place in town, a space where locals and travelers can sit down to enjoy a satisfying meal in a convivial atmosphere. Come enjoy our from-scratch food, extensive bar, and friendly service.

This place is so delicious. Baker, NV is a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, and Kerouac’s is easy to miss, but don’t miss it!
Highlights for us were the cocktail of the day, with fruit & jalapeno, and an amazing local berry crisp. But the veggie pizza was also great, and the Caesar salad had freshly made dressing. This is expertly prepared food & drink, equivalent to a super fancy restaurant in a city. And remarkably inexpensive.
We were there on a Wednesday, and it was not too busy. The friendly staff said it gets busy on Fridays, when there’s a band.
Beautiful spot, great bar & restaurant. Nice people. Can’t recommend too highly.

Fabulous food, a foodies’ paradise in the middle of no where. We had multiple meals here while visiting the park and they were all great. There is a lot of fresh and seasonal dishes here. The service was great, the staff friendly. The went out of their way to accommodate our toddler. Their drink list was amazing. We had a really delicious Paw Paw cider, which really reminded me of growing up I. The Midwest eating PawPaws. We might be biased since we knew the owners.

Loved this place! Only serves breakfast and dinner, and the menus are small by design, but the quality of every item was fantastic (we tried almost everything). The chef has excellent taste. The pastries where to die for. Also, has a great selection of wine and beer, along with a really impressive full bar with a huge selection of cocktails. Service was wonderful, with super friendly people.

We had an exceptional experience at Kerouac’s. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately, but outside. Be aware that this place fills up VERY fast. Come early or late, but they stay super busy. Even though it was a bit cold we enjoyed it outside where it was a bit quieter. Service was fast and friendly. Their food is all locally sourced, or if not, they have printed on their menu exactly where it comes from. The cocktail special was wonderful, a watermelon mojito that was all sourced nearby. I got the veggie burger. Honestly, it was a bit bland, until I put tons of ketchup on it, which I generally avoid doing. But the fried were great. Wonderful heirloom tomatoes on it. My partner got the special pizza, an autumn veggie pizza. It was pretty good. Our favorite part was the appetizer Brussels sprouts. Those were delicious! We left with a cookie and a coffee cake for dessert. All around, it’s really great and the best meal in Baker. Perfect for after spending a day in the National Park.

Delicious food and great service. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and had some of the vegetarian / pescatarian plates from the tapas menu. The veggie board with Kite Hill vegan garlic & herb spread was delicious. So were the bruschetta, crab cakes and French fries.

the food was amazingly fresh and service outstanding, considering the remoteness of this tiny town. I was preparing a weekend of escape from civilization to the nowhere in the heart of Nevada desert with backpack camping and cold energy bars only, the fallen gas station gave me such impression of Westworld, but stepping in Kerouacs was like a gate to the future. of course. great basin np was superb. good to have that gate for those who like a drop of honey in their dark coffee.

This place is a real delight.
Fantastic food (they’re sufficiently committed to quality that they FedEx ingredients they can’t source locally) and a top drawer wine and beer list (the husband of the lovely couple that run it used to work in the wine business in NYC). Top drawer service too.
We sat outside and watched the world go by while drinking a fantastic cocktail special, was a perfect end to the say exploring the parks nearby.

Possibly one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in remote USA.
I ordered the house special pizza which they cooked in the proper Italian style, I.E. thin crust and swamped with excessive toppings… Delicious.
I sat at the bar and enjoyed two local beers and an perfectly mixed old fashioned made with my choice of bourbon. The bar tender really knows his stuff.
I finished with a rhubarb crumble. The crumble was soggy, but it still tasted ok.

Wow what a great dinner experience at the entrance to Great Basin National Park. Wonderful food and atmosphere. Staff was very nice. Only challenge is the limited service. They are only open for dinner this time of year except on weekends and they close for the winter. I understand the challenge being in such a remote location and kudos to the owners for making it work.
