Reviews
PS: I was surprised by the owner’s sarcastic tone. New Orleans is a tourist destination, and Google is where everyone leaves reviews. The owner is a real hero for keeping this old, dilapidated building right next to a noisy highway afloat for 36 years, despite the terrible food. The owner’s response to me was completely inappropriate. I paid money for inedible food. I do not recommend eating here. Whether they’ve been in business for 36 years or 6 years doesn’t matter if the food is terrible.
DETAILS: We visited NOLA on spring break and stayed in Slidell. We asked our swamp tour guide for the best local place for shrimp and oysters, and Kenny’s was it.
Establishment is unassuming… pseudo hole in the wall. Workers were mostly kids, but nice enough. Prices are okay/decent, esp for what we got. Best part was the local shrimp – plump and large, with the right amount of seasoning. It was hard to peel though, although research states that it indicates freshness. Softshell crab was stellar! Crisp and fried to perfection. Oysters on the half shell were okay – I’ve had better… perhaps these were not as fresh.
The sausage should be avoided. They were cold and sweet versus being warm and spicy/hot like they were supposed to be.
If ever in Slidell, it’s a good place to drop in.
Boiled shrimp mushy, sticky and must have forgotten the seasonings!
They were out of boiled corn, wait time 15 minutes, offered extra potatoes, that’s fine but where is the seasoning.
The mushy sticky shrimp were mentioned to an employee, she said she’d mention to the manager, waited a little while, no show manager.
