You order crawfish expecting them to actually taste like crawfish, not like everything else imaginable. There are way too many spices, and you can’t taste the crawfish itself even one percent. That said, the local oysters are truly delicious — no argument there

PS: I was surprised by the owner’s sarcastic tone. New Orleans is a tourist destination, and Google is where everyone leaves reviews. The owner is a real hero for keeping this old, dilapidated building right next to a noisy highway afloat for 36 years, despite the terrible food. The owner’s response to me was completely inappropriate. I paid money for inedible food. I do not recommend eating here. Whether they’ve been in business for 36 years or 6 years doesn’t matter if the food is terrible.

Can’t beat $15/dozen oysters, AND it was one of the best we’ve had in the whole New Orleans area. Fried oysters were also a big win. Everything was good, but the oysters sang.

BLUF/SUMMARY: Great local seafood served with a home style feel. Shrimp and softshell crab are the stars…oysters are okay… but avoid the sausage.

DETAILS: We visited NOLA on spring break and stayed in Slidell. We asked our swamp tour guide for the best local place for shrimp and oysters, and Kenny’s was it.

Establishment is unassuming… pseudo hole in the wall. Workers were mostly kids, but nice enough. Prices are okay/decent, esp for what we got. Best part was the local shrimp – plump and large, with the right amount of seasoning. It was hard to peel though, although research states that it indicates freshness. Softshell crab was stellar! Crisp and fried to perfection. Oysters on the half shell were okay – I’ve had better… perhaps these were not as fresh.

The sausage should be avoided. They were cold and sweet versus being warm and spicy/hot like they were supposed to be.

If ever in Slidell, it’s a good place to drop in.

We were undecided about going back since previous visit was a disappointment but this will be our last.
Boiled shrimp mushy, sticky and must have forgotten the seasonings!
They were out of boiled corn, wait time 15 minutes, offered extra potatoes, that’s fine but where is the seasoning.
The mushy sticky shrimp were mentioned to an employee, she said she’d mention to the manager, waited a little while, no show manager.

On our trip back from Nola after not being able to find the perfect poboy we stopped at a local seafood place(Kenny’s) that some friends in Slidell suggested and let me just say we were not disappointed! Best shrimp poboy and roast beef poboy hands down! Flavor was great and on point and they definitely load the poboys down and not greedy! Service was great as well as atmosphere. Will return and highly recommend if u want a real poboy made from the best! Also prices kept reasonable esp for how much you get! Thanks Kennys for making our trip memorable with some good cooking!!

Hands down BEST shrimp poboy ever!! It had so much shrimp on it I could’ve made a second one with an extra roll! The boudin balls were delicious too, I have one recommendation, add some pepper jack cheese and then they will be killer!!! Great great food!! Fast service! Huge parking lot! Five stars!!!

The best select oysters are sold here. Staff are always friendly and fast. The price is very reasonable here. We drive all the way from New Orleans to get their seafood and says a lot. Good job manager and staff.

Its a great spot. My shrimp were very chewy but the flavor from the batter was amazing. While visiting slidell I ate there twice and both visits meet expectations but something was not perfect. Had service been better, it could have been addressed and I would have been a 100% 5 star happy.

Sea food is their business, dinning in or fresh catch. I’ve been around since this guy was selling out of coolers with no building. A great spot, great food, great place for family.
