I stopped in for their Wednesday $4.99 Country Fried Steak special. The sign says nothing about “no substitutions.” I asked for a simple substitution, and the employee told me yes.

But instead of talking to me, the manager went straight to the line and told them to make the meal the way he wanted — without telling me anything had changed. When I asked what was going on, he focused on insisting what wasn’t allowed, even though the system clearly accepts the change. The only thing he was willing to allow was gravy on the side, and even that turned into an argument.

If you make a mistake, that’s fine — mistakes happen. But own up to it, communicate with the customer, and make sure it doesn’t happen again. That’s how good customer service works.

Instead, the manager argued with me in front of customers and didn’t take any responsibility for the miscommunication. At that point, I simply asked for my money back.

Overall, it was a disappointing experience — especially when simple communication and basic respect could have fixed everything.

I made a truck load delivery here. I can’t say enough about how great the experience was. The folks that unloaded me were very friendly and fast by reefer standards, especially considering they unload in the parking lot by hand. They offered to even buy me dinner, tho I declined due to my diet. This is the kind of customer that truckers want to go to. If your KFC is run by one of these franchise owners then you should make sure to support their businesses their good people. Thanks you Kendall house if I have the opportunity to run this load again I won’t hesitate.

This was our first visit to the brand-new store Massillon. First star is for exterior appearance of the building and parking, although directional signage for the parking lot entrance, exit, and drive-through seem to be absent. I hope that is corrected, soon, as it is needed. In addition, the building entrances are not obvious. Directional signage is helpful for first time visitors.

The second star is for the interior of the building. It’s bright and open. The interior decor caused my wife to utter a surprised “Wow!” as we entered.

We were early to avoid the rush, so there were only a few diners eating and nobody ahead of us at the counter. Service was fast but unexceptional. We were not offered wet wipes, but, when we asked, were told they were in the self-serve area.

There were no wet wipes (and no place for them) at the self-serve area. My wife tried to find them first. Then I tried to find them with no luck. There wasn’t even a place for them.

I went to the counter and stood there, alone (still no line at the counter), totally ignored. So I spoke up and asked if someone could get me some wet wipes. Nobody came to the counter. The lady at the drive through window turned around, scanned the kitchen, and saw nobody helping, so she grabbed a handful from her supply and brought them over to me. I mentioned that there were none in the self-serve area, not even a place for them. She responded that she knew that, and that someone had decided to put them behind the counter. The one that made that decision failed to let the counter people know.

Also, the space for lids for medium-sized cups at the self-serve area was empty.

Finally, when we arrived at our table, we noticed another table that must have been used by a family with messy kids. The tabletop was a mess. And the floor under the table was BURIED by several inches of food and napkins. It was still that way when we left. I verified that it was easily seen from the counter.

I couldn’t get into the men’s room to wash my hands. The mechanical “Occupied/Vacant” sign above the door handle clearly indicated that the room was not occupied (i.e., unlocked). But the handle would not move. Knocking on the door did not get a response. As I turned to leave, a young female employee approached the lady’s room. I told her of my problem, and she tried to open the door without any luck. She said that it must be broken and disappeared into the lady’s room. A well-trained employee would have first alerted a manager that a customer was having a problem.

The food was standard KFC fare except that the corn looked like it had been sitting in a warmer all day. It was brown and shriveled. Not appetizing.

KFC management has not impressed me since they were taken over by RJ Reynolds (1982) and PepsiCo (1986). I had high hopes that this new store signaled a new beginning. I’m still unimpressed.
