The Kempton Hotel is a laid back, family-owned and operated restaurant that boasts a rich history since its beginning in 1874. We want our patrons to have a fantastic experience. We take pride in our home-style, made-from scratch cooking, and in bringing exceptional service. We have deep roots in the local area, and enjoy sharing our knowledge of the local history and culture through our PA Dutch specialties such as chicken pot pie, as well as in conversation with our patrons.

The Kempton Hotel Restaurant was a completely awesome experience! The small town atmosphere of the restaurant and bar was really cool and we are already planning a trip back to Kempton for the 150 year celebration. Once we ordered our food in the restaurant, we walked through the bar area to look at the painted mural on the ceiling. Local and American history scenes cover the entire ceiling. After chatting with a couple of the locals, we sat down and ate our meal. Really loved the cheese fries with cheddar and bacon. Also enjoyed the pork and sauerkraut, a Pennsylvania Dutch favorite. Exceptional food for a great price. Our waitress was professional, friendly and told us a little about the history of the hotel. What a great place just a short drive from Kutztown University.

Went there today for lunch and almost everything that all of us ordered was terrible! I had shrimp cocktail which were still somewhat frozen but warm on the outside, obviously heated up in hot water. Wife and aunt had hog maw with chewy disgusting maw and way undercooked vegetables. I also had gross rubbery wings that look and taste like they were cooked in a microwave, and without a doubt the worst long island and old fashioned I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not one to complain about food, but this was some of the worst food I’ve ever had at a restaurant!
I must say that my uncle had a burger was solid, my fried pickles were delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere pretty cool. I may give this place another shot if I’m in the area again because I can’t imagine that they would have so many good reviews if the food was consistently terrible.

This place is so fun! Great to hit this place after a hike at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Carolyn, the bartender was awesome! Perogies were not good at all…no finesse! Great murals and apparently Willie Nelson was here is 1984, he is depicted on the ceiling mural kinda cool

This is such a nice place, it has fkair, is rustic, the painted ceilings are worth for coming alone….however tge staff is amazing, and the food…omg. ..fantastic..you will find items on the menu, that you would not expect…i.e. steak in whiskey sauce…amazing, meatloaf which is great…i could eat there daily great place…if you dont visit, you certainly miss out…

This place was great. Last minute we stopped here after the train ride around the corner and they sat 4 adults and 6 kids very quickly. The waitress was very patient. I recommend the Kempton cheesesteak with fries. My daughter had the kids chicken tenders and they were hand breaded and had great flavor. To-go we took home loaded fries and garlic parm wings. Everything was so good!

The kind of place you can go to and immediately be accepted and the U shaped bar invites conversation with everyone.
The Sauteed Perogies were very tasty, I had the Pepperoni Pizza Burger and my wife had the Taco Salad which was large enough to be shareable… We brought half of it back to our rental for tomorrow’s lunch!
