I recently visited Kelp Sushi Joint and had such a great experience! The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting—perfect for a casual meal or a night out. The restaurant is beautifully maintained and has a relaxing vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome.
The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Even with my seafood allergy, I was able to enjoy a full meal without stress thanks to Mimi, the manager. She was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make sure I had safe, delicious options. I felt genuinely cared for, which is rare and so appreciated.
Our server, Cal, was also wonderful—friendly, attentive, and always there right when we needed him. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made the experience feel personal and enjoyable.
Overall, Kelp Sushi Joint delivered fantastic food and exceptional service. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!

Came here for one of my work holiday lunches last week and everything was absolutely wonderful.
I wish I remembered the name of our waiter, but he was top-notch very attentive and ensured everything went smoothly.
I think the only negative thing I remember is the back room we were in got very hot temperature wise ! But other than that really have no complaints. The food was amazing.

So delicious, it’s unreal! And the place is spotless — everything looks brand new!

I’m full and happy — these are the best sushi I’ve had in Florida! I also got a soup and some sweet potato on the side — everything was amazing!

OMG! What an amazing Sushi joint here in Tampa. I wish they had places like this back home. If they do, I haven’t found them. We discovered this place on Til Tok so we thought we’d try it out. Went on a Monday and it wasn’t very busy at all. The To-go orders were constant while we sat and dined. Tried the Krab Rangoon and Pork&Beef Fried Wonton – best Krab Rangoon we’ve ever tasted! Wontons were also amazing. Whatever that sauce was they lightly dressed them in was a perfect addition of sweet to complement. Main course we shared the Volcano Roll and the Samurai Chicken. I haven’t a bad thing to say. Wife even said the Arnold Palmer was on point! We’re visiting Tampa on vacation but we might just go back again before we leave. Not too often I run across a restaurant that makes me happy to spend my money. This is a must visit if your looking for Sushi. I didn’t take pictures of everything but the food speaks for itself.

I had a to go order. The sushi roll was fresh – wasn’t the best flavor combination for me. I was most excited for the sushi burger and was disappointed. The “buns” were overbearing. They overpowered the whole “burger.” It might have been better if I took one bun off.

While staying at a nearby hotel I weight the local dining options on Google Maps. Kelp was highly rated and the photos looked great, so I decided to check them out for a solo dinner.
I was seated at a nice table meant for two near the rear of the restaurant. My server, who was fantastic, promptly greeted me and gave me food and beverage recommendations. I ordered a bottle of sake (based on her recommendation), the tuna nachos (delicious blend of hard and soft, sweet and spicy).
For my entree I ordered the galaxy dragon roll. I wasn’t a fan of the cream cheese, thankfully I was easily able to scrape it off of the top of the roll. The roll was good, but I wish there was a little bit of crunch to balance out the totally soft texture.
If ever in the area again I would definitely return.

Terrible pricing!
I bought an order of sashimi plate togo. I called in and asked one lady about this order. She said: “the plate will have 3 pieces of salmon and tuna along with others. It turned out there are only 2 pieces of salmon and tuna each. And one piece is paper cut thin. This plate costs $43 before tax btw. When I hold the food bag it felt so light. I was curious but did not check it until got home. The quality is ok.

Kelp is the only restaurant that we go back again and again. its a family favorite and a comfort space. The food is excellent. Best sushi, specifically Bronze pebble has been my favorite. The hometown soup tastes great. Their entrees, bowls and kids Bento Boxes everything is high quality and delicious. My 5 years old loves their mango pudding and the waitress is so sweet she recognized how my daughter enjoyed it and offered another serving…..totally impressed by service, ambience and food. Totally recommend this place.

Honolulu sunset. Edamame. Thats it ! My daughter loves the Mexican roll and my son crushes the kids bento box. Of course the service is great. Very clean place. I remember when this was origami sushi and to be honest they haven’t done a bad job transitioning into their own spot.
