Great place to hang out at. Pretty good beer selection and live music. There’s also a pizza place inside to get something to eat. The pizza was good too. There was a line to get in when I left.

The food and drink were great, but they get 5 stars for hosting a party for an organization that benefits young people with Downs Syndrome! Those kids were having a blast with music and dancing. We told the owner, she was awesome for doing this event.

I love this bar, it’s got great beers and normally great service for sure! However during the NBA finals the bartender with glasses and dark hair, was so grumpy!! I was like hey bartender because I couldn’t get his attention and he’s like that’s not my name. How could I know his name? It’s not like he told me? He was so intent on Boston winning he forgot we just wanted beer. He even yelled at me when I was talking to the TV saying ‘They can’t hear you!’ Because I was rooting whoever, I didn’t care.

Kelly’s and the adjoining Chouteau Store are considered to be theoldest buildingsstill standing inKansas City. Kelly’s Westport Inn was constructed around 1850 and used to be a trading post for westward settlers. Funny story relayed by the history major/bartender… they used to massively oversell settlers on provisions. They got maybe 30 miles outside of town and had to dump a lot because of the weight. So the store owners would head out, reclaim it, and sell it to the next hapless soul. The picture was the throngs of people outside is a “typical St. Paddys”. Love it. My kinda dive bar

Thank you Kyle and Pat for a wonderful memory with old friends at Kelly’s. This establishment has been a local gathering place in Westport for generations. It’s fun and friendly atmosphere epitomizes the heart of KC. It is definitely a place to see in KC when you go.

Great place to hang and watch some games or meet people. They have a pizza shop in the back and a roof deck in which you can smoke up there. There is a bar upstairs too but it is not always open so look for the sign by the stairs that will tell you if it is or not. Lots of tv’s and bar tables to lean on while knocking back a few cold ones with the boys. Right on the corner in the westport area so you cant miss it. Random people took my phone so these are all i have of this place.

So amazing to have lunch in this historic building. I talked to two friendly guys inside — I think the manager and the owner, but not sure. The guy behind the bar (the manager?) told me some of the history of the place. Really cool. I like all the histoical photos and iconography posted on the walls. (My dad was president of the Kansas State Historical Society, so we kids love historical stuff.)

This happened quite awhile ago but I have NEVER stepped foot in here again. The old bouncer told me he would only let me in if I admitted my REAL ID was fake. Since it was real I would not admit it. He held onto my ID and would not give it back until cops got involved. Had the audacity to call all of us “dirty girls” when he was told he was in the wrong and had to give my ID back.
