Best “dive bar” in America! Actually not a “dive” in any way. Most excellent place to people watch and enjoy the local scenery with some really good people. Great bartenders, Joe and Nick! Quaffs away!

If you are Hispanic/Latino, or for that matter a person of color, DO NOT frequent this establishment.

* The security/door guy is extremely aggressive and profiling you from the moment you walk up. They will keep your I.D. from you as if it is their property. – It is a power trip from a low paid position who probably only wishes they are actual law enforcement.
* The bartenders are profiling you as well. They clearly saw us waiting patiently and made us wait for ever, skipped over us and took the order from the People BEHIND us at one point.

When we spoke up the bartender then said, “If you do not like it you can leave.”

Do not go here. Apparently they have a long history of treating people of color like this, but do not put yourself in that kind of position in a town already ripe with hostilty.

Plus, it smells really bad near the bar area.

I have screenshot this. Have it deleted and I post again.

Somebody got roofied here at Kelly’s and despite being accompanied by her friends they couldn’t look out for her safety she wasn’t completely under the influence and somehow she lost consciousness after drinking out of her cup, somehow she pass out and showed very little to no signs of being aware of her surroundings, she was later taken out on a stretcher and looked as if she almost nearly died…..

There have been many stories about this place having a reputation of being shallow about things and being very harsh about other stuff that might not be a big deal.

But this was no laughing matter, whoever served her that drink should be cautious and remember NOT to leave your drink *unattended*

Kelly’s Westport Inn is one of those places that instantly makes you feel welcome the second you walk in. The music was phenomenal, the kind of vibe that pulls you right into the moment, and the bartender was absolutely top-tier. Not only did he make me another drink without hesitation, but he also surprised us with a sample of a new drink, completely free of charge. That kind of generosity and genuine hospitality is something you don’t see every day.

While waiting for our friends to meet us for dinner at Pho Tower, he even went out of his way to bring us snacks, peanuts, peanut butter pretzels, and some amazing organic granola bites. It turned a simple wait into a really fun and comfortable experience.

The conversation flowed easily, the atmosphere was alive but relaxed, and the energy of the place was just right, not too loud, not too mellow. Between the great service, $3 wells, and a dollar off taps with plenty of delicious options, it’s honestly one of my new favorite go-to spots for a drink in Kansas City.

The artwork inside adds even more character, eclectic, creative, and full of personality, just like the bar itself.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Highly recommend Kelly’s Westport Inn. Great people, great drinks, great energy, it’s the kind of place that reminds you why local bars are still the heart and soul of a good night out.

It is unacceptable that a security officer illegally portrayed a real police officer and used that false authority to physically intimidate me on public property. This abuse of power is a grave injustice that undermines public trust and endangers innocent people. I demand that this individual be immediately reprimanded by their employer and face appropriate legal consequences, including possible civil action. Such misconduct cannot be tolerated, and accountability must be enforced to prevent this kind of intimidation and violation of rights. I stand firm that this matter should be thoroughly investigated, and justice served not only for me but to uphold the integrity of lawful authority..

Hi Terrill, sorry for the delay responding. I was on vacation and did my best to avoid emails.

Kelly’s does not have security officers nor are we public property. It sounds like you might be wanting to reach the Westport Public Safety office? They are run by a company named Chelsea Brown. Hope this helps and sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Such a great dive in KC! Love the atmosphere and the music later at night! Cheep beer and drinks and that old school Irish pub feel. Can’t beat it!

I have had other people go to this place and have told me mixed experiences here but I guess it’s unusual to say the least that the door man has always been nice and upfront with me and that I don’t believe that I meant any harm or tried to cross boundaries with people or make anybody uncomfortable but unfortunately my time here has expired and that I only have fond memories of being here at this place…..

From watching games, to hanging with friend’s and running into familiar face’s through out the city it has made me come to realize who the true runner uppers are and who runs this place should know that it’s a business and since I’m not a big spender here and don’t believe that I had done anything so horrible to where I should be banned from this place not trying to make people wonder if I’m friendly or not but in all of reality I mutually respect the bar’s decision and appreciate them allowing me to be here in the past I am not a trouble maker or a problem solver but I will continue to keep a rich mentality and move on away from this Establishment

Great place to hang out at. Pretty good beer selection and live music. There’s also a pizza place inside to get something to eat. The pizza was good too. There was a line to get in when I left.
