Kelly’s Tavern first opened its doors on Colley Avenue in 1983. Since then, we’ve grown to become a locals’ favorite across Hampton Roads with 7 locations in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake and Newport News. Known for our humongous burgers, outdoor dining and excellent casual fare, we are proud to have won a variety of community awards.

Went here Saturday night shortly after 8 pm. It wasn’t busy at all; everyone inside was only sitting at the bar. Lots of tvs inside with different games showing on them. Waitress was informative on menu items and also very attentive.
To drink: I got their Saturday special, a $6 Strawberry Margarita (8/10) it was good and decently strong. Got to taste a sip of their Hunch Punch (0/10) tasted like nothing but pineapple juice and no alcohol, unfortunately.
To eat: we started with the Grande Nachos with chicken (8.5/10) they were flavorful and actually pretty tasty though appearance wise, we were nervous on how’d they taste. I also ordered the Southwest Steak Wrap (5/10) I ended up having to send my plate back because my steak wasn’t cooked medium, it was originally far past well done and hard. I had asked also for no tomatoes, but they were put on my wrap. The waitress was kind and apologetic about the mess up though, and quickly put in for me to get a new wrap made. Overall, I just didn’t find the wrap flavorful at all and didn’t like the taste of it. My steak was cooked perfectly the second time around though.
Definitely didn’t order the right thing for my meal it seemed, but I think I’d give this place another try in the future.

Came on a Sunday and it was pretty busy but we were seated immediately. Our server was great and she was working HARD, she was the only one working our whole section. Hubby got fish tacos which he loved, I got the smash burger but was a bit disappointed because it was fairly thick, not smashed thin like I expected. It was still delicious though. Had a great night.

The food took a long time to come out and it all tasted like frozen fast food. I had a crab cake sandwich. Worst I’ve ever had. It was still cold and wet in the middle. Than I had the crab dip that tasted like sour cream, bread crumbs and imitation crab something . I’ve visited Kelly’s a few times when I visited VB. Never left a bad review whether good or bad. But this time my entire party Also complained of the food and the service. We had to go the bar for our drinks because only 1 waitress was working. It was a mess to say the least $300 later we had pizza for dinner.

Went there today to meet girlfriend’s brother for lunch. Had to ask for the lunch specials which were priced right. Server was not attentive as she only took the drink order, brought one round of drinks then took our food order. She brought the food out in an appropriate amount of time but failed to ask about another round of drinks and did not reappear until she brought the check. Did not feel welcome. Food was good and priced right.

Absolutely delicious. I got the Reuben and sweet potato fries. Everything was hot and tasty. On a side note, I ate alone and sometimes servers aren’t as attentive or kind when you’re by yourself and I felt the service was also 10/10. Will definitely be back!

I’ve been to this place a countless number of times and enjoy myself each time! I’m always served by such an amazing woman with a very welcoming and genuine personality, Yvette! She is by far the most polite and friendliest person ever! I always sit at the bar just to chat with her. She also makes the best drinks! I love the atmosphere here and the food served. There are many great options on the menu that are very reasonably priced! My favorite is the Classic Turkey burger which very much so tastes like a Big Mac. I don’t eat beef, chicken, or pork so I am happy that they have turkey and veggie burger options. I also love the fish sandwich that I tried on my last visit. The sandwich was huge and delicious! I also had the Mac and cheese and broccoli with it! Amazing!! I highly recommend this place! It’s a great place to just chill and have a good meal! Even if you wanted to chill by yourself, it’s an amazing experience!
Update: So I tried the Tavern Burger with a grind turkey patty and it was delicious!! The staff sauce, mushrooms, and cheddar cheese were perfect and made it taste so good!

My wife and I were in town visiting family and decided to venture out to lunch. We spotted Chick Fil A on Independence Avenue and when we turned into the parking lot, spotted Kelly’s Tavern right behind it. On a whim, we tried Kelly’s Tavern not knowing what to expect.
Upon entering, we found a very clean, inviting sports bar/restaurant, with a sumptious menu with varied food choices. I opted for the blackened tuna soft tacos, my wife the buffalo chicken wrap. In a word, delicious and fresh!
Callie, our server, was friendly, engaging, attentive and professional. A delightful young lady that this restaurant needs to keep happy!
