Kelly’s Roast Beef on the U.S. Route 1 strip in Saugus is a pretty fun place to bring friends from out of state for lunch or dinner. I’ve been here several times before (although not recently, until now) and the fried seafood and roast beef sandwiches are always excellent. The dining area is very large with plenty of nooks for seating. Carousel horse decor adorns the place, and there is also a large fish tank to engage your attention; it’s easy to see that children would love it here – and yes, there is a kids menu available. The food is a little high priced, especially the seafood, but the classic New England experience for newcomers, and large portions served, should make up for that a little bit. Very much recommended.

Kelly’s rarely misses. I’ve been here about 15 times this year ordering to-go and driving home 20 min and it’s always fresh and delicious. Online ordering is super easy. They do not skimp on beef for their $12 sandwich and it’s just a great value for what you get! Fantastic roast beef, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings, and fried pickles. Kelly’s Rewards is also great – pretty much every time I order I have a $2-4 reward to redeem. Very easy to earn and redeem points for dollars off, free fries, etc. Highly recommend stopping when you’re on Route 1!

Awesome is the word that explains averting about that place. Luckily it wasn’t packed. We got right in line and helped immediately. The gentleman that helped us had a huge smile. Helped us determine what was good. Which was everything honestly. I got the surf and turf. Excellent choice. Lobster was huge with tons of meats. The roast beef was tender and packed with meat and cheese. My wife’s sandwich was just as pull. We also got two cookies that were nice and fresh and gooey. We came in from out of town and wanted to try the lobster roll and sliced beef sandwich. Counter help was not pleasant and was not tending to the little customers that were in the restaurant. We asked about the slice beef sandwich and the girl was not knowledgeable or friendly.

I recently went to Kelly’s on Route 1 for a birthday party. This was my first time there. There’s a wide range of food choices and the food came fast. The party was in a separate room which was nice. Restaurant was clean and staff were nice and attentive. Parking spaces were plenty. You won’t be disappointed if you go.

I am very sad to post this review, but it must be made. I had heard many rumors that Kelly’s went downhill. I moved away in 2020 and used to frequent Kelly’s often before that time. I flew back to Boston last week and ordered a large beef with sauce and an order of chicken fingers. The beef was overcooked, and there was next to no sauce put on the bun. The chicken tenders are definitely different from years past. They’re using a much cheaper option and it shows because they weren’t great like they used to be. There was ketchup and condiments all over the counter and no employees cleaned it up. The bathrooms were also disgusting. I don’t know what happened, but Kelly’s is no longer a viable option for north shore beef style sandwiches or chicken tenders. I can’t speak for their fish sandwiches / burgers, but I don’t think I’ll ever return. It sucks because this was the spot I’d been going to for 20+ years with family and friends. I guess they don’t care anymore since they’ve become more commercialized

Had the best gluten free and dairy free roast beef sandwich ever! The service was fantastic and the staff was more than accommodating with all my food allergies. We sat and ate our meal as a family and the food came out hot and cooked to perfection. This Kelly’s location is also immaculately clean!

This has a McDonalds, Burger King, Arby’s vibe. Staff was polite and service was very quick. Our food was good but I ended up with food poisoning about and hour after we ate all the way into the next day. The fish tank was neat.

Me and my Husband have been coming here for a few months now.I Stopped in after work and it was packed, but the line moved quick. My junior three-way was solid and the fries were hot. Victor (the manager) apologized for a short wait and even offered extra napkins before I asked. Small touch, but it stood out.
