Cute diner with a menu larger than I expected. We stopped in for breakfast and the prices can’t be beat! Everything was served hot and tasted great. Service was also good and friendly.

We made the trip down to Walton on Father’s Day after seeing lots of buzz about Kelly Q’s Whippy Dip on Facebook—and we’re so glad we did. This place absolutely delivered on its promise of classic diner goodness.

I went with Combo #2: two eggs, pancakes, and a choice of meat. The pancakes were excellent—fluffy, golden, and cooked just right. The eggs (ordered over medium) were near perfection, which is no small feat. So many places miss the mark, but not here. Both the bacon and sausage were solid—exactly what you’d want from a hearty breakfast.

My fiancé had the country fried steak combo, which was a standout. The breading on the steak was delicious, and the steak itself was incredibly tender. Again, eggs were cooked perfectly, and the biscuit and gravy? A real treat. The gravy was a tad thick for our taste, but that’s a small note, likely more about our regional preferences than the recipe itself—it still had great flavor.

One of the things we loved most? It was super fun to see a restaurant with true regulars—people who clearly come often and are greeted like family. Even when we left, they told us goodbye, too. That kind of warmth and community is rare and made the whole experience even better.

Despite it being Father’s Day, we had no wait to be seated. It did take about 20 minutes to get our food, but that’s totally understandable on a holiday and well worth it for the quality.

If you love that nostalgic, old-school diner atmosphere, you’ll love Kelly Q’s. Don’t let the drive from Union deter you—it’s a super easy on-and-off from the interstate. Plus, Walton has some fun places to explore while you’re down there.

We’ll absolutely be back—can’t wait to try more of their savory dishes and (we’ve heard!) their famous milkshakes.

If you’re anywhere near Walton, KY and don’t stop at Kelly Q’s and Whippers Dairy, you’re doing yourself a disservice.
The food is just flat-out good. I’ve had the mushroom burger and the fried chicken sandwich, and both were the kind of meals you think about later.
But what really makes the place special is the people. Jackie and Kelly, the owners, are the kind of folks who make you feel welcome the second you walk in. You can tell they care — about the food, the place, and the community. And Michelle is an absolute gem. Friendly, kind, and always makes you feel like you’re more than just another customer.

For a local spot they have the absolute best burgers! We had the Mushroom burger and the Round-Up Burger, both were excellent. As for the fries, not much to compliment on, though dark not burned but very limp.
The menu is diverse and covering all three meals, ice cream desserts and I did notice an apple pie and fresh baked cookies on the counter.
Definitely my go to place for a burger!
Can’t wait to try more of their menu, including specials throughout the week. I’ve heard the meatloaf is very good. Prices are reasonable, $21. for two fabulous burgers and fries.

Cozy little local place. Have a great menu selection! We were in the area checking out Big Bone Lick Historic Site. Wanted something local rather than all of the fast food in the area. Ate inside. Service was good. We had coney dogs & mushroom burger. Both were really good!! The burger was really juicy! Each came with chips. Got a side dish of potato even though I thought it was a little pricey at $3.20. Didn’t really care for it – too much dill pickle and onions for us. We finished things off with a banana split – which was not too bad – ice cream didn’t have a lot of flavor to it but was nice they used hot fudge on it. Worth a stop for sure!

First time here. Ordered the mushroom burger and the round up burger. Both meals were first rate! Wife LOVED her mushroom burger…best she has had in years. Atmosphere is great. Small town restaurant/ice cream shoppe. Service was great. Would give 10 stars if I could. Will definitely go back!

This place has cleaned up and done some improvements since the last time I was there. Food was good but could still use some attention. I ordered the jalapeño deluxe burger and it was all good with the exception of a very pink chuck in the center. Undercooked is not how I usually eat my burger. We also ordered an omelette and it was good.

The food here is always the BEST. The shakes are always a go to if I take this route home. Although part of the menu can sometimes be a little pricey but the taste and the friendly staff make up for that. During the fall season the pumpkin pie shake is a must have.

I had an unfortunate situation. I had A driver break down and lose a transmission and he was able to make it inside the parking lot. The owner was very nice. Allowed my truck to stay there overnight until I could get a tow truck there.. while we waited, we had some food. The food was awesome. Just an all-around great place with friendly people. Thank you for allowing my truck to stay overnight.
