The overall experience wasn’t terrible. I felt that the portion of sausage gravy was small for the order. Also when we asked for a 3rd cup of coffee when we were finished with our meals they suggested a to go cup.
I get the fact you want to turn tables and make money but another cup of coffee isn’t going to kill your profits.
I’ve been to Deluca and Pamela’s which I think IMO are better than KellyO’S.
Average breakfast at best nothing really stands out for me.

Visited on October 5, 2025, around lunchtime. Upon arrival, my guest and I found a lengthy line outside the door which usually signals a popular local spot. We waited roughly 25 minutes before being seated. To their credit, the owner kept the waiting crowd entertained, which helped pass the time.

Once inside, it was clear that space is limited. Tables are packed tightly, and the diner operates at full capacity, especially during Sunday brunch hours. Our server, Carrie, greeted us promptly and took our drink orders while we looked over the extensive breakfast menu.

Our Order:

Western Omelet: $18.67
Loaded with ham, onions, green peppers, and cheddar cheese. Nicely cooked with a rich, cheesy filling. However, note that home fries are not included and cost extra.
(3) Buttermilk Pancakes: $8.89
Unfortunately, these were overly chewy likely from overmixed batter. I was expecting light and fluffy, classic diner pancakes.

Famous Breakfast: $14.86 Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage links, and home fries. Nicely seasoned and hearty.

Fruit Cup: $4.75 Bright, fresh mix of blueberries, strawberries, banana slices, cantaloupe, and honeydew—beautifully presented but served late after we had already begun eating.

Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice: $4.65
Refreshing and naturally sweet, a standout of the meal.

The Experience:
While the food overall was flavorful and portions generous, there were some service hiccups. Our server forgot to bring the fruit cup until we spoke directly with the owner. Additionally, the upcharge for side items like home fries wasn’t clearly mentioned by our server, which could have been communicated better.

Atmosphere & Service:
Kelly O’s has that nostalgic Pittsburgh diner charm lively, close-quarters, and family-friendly. The décor is retro and fun, but the space can feel cramped when the restaurant is full. Staff worked hard under the rush, though service could benefit from a bit more attention to order accuracy and communication.

Pricing: Our total came to $55.45 (including 7% sales tax). Slightly on the higher side for a diner breakfast, especially with upcharges, but portions are sizable.

Kelly O’s Diner is a classic Pittsburgh brunch experience—good comfort food, lively crowd, and a community vibe that keeps people coming back. Just be prepared for a wait, tight seating, and some inconsistencies in pacing and service.

Kelly O’s was delightful. The service was efficient, and our meal was brought out promptly. We were fortunate to be seated right away, as the packed dining room suggests a wait is typically to be expected. The food was excellent, certainly living up to its reputation following the feature on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It’s definitely a culinary experience worth seeking out if you are in the area.

We ordered the highly recommended Pittsburgh Benedict which combines a life of bread with pierogies, diced onions, kielbasa, fried (instead of the typical poached) egg and just richly seasoned hollandaise sauce. I didn’t know this combo could taste this good! So delicious that my Jersey husband says it’s the best benedict ever- this coming from a guy who grew up in the land of diners. Great service, kind people and very tasty food made to order.

I had the most amazing Eggs Benedict at this restaurant! The dish was absolutely delicious, with perfectly poached eggs and a creamy, flavorful hollandaise sauce. The potatoes on the side were crispy and perfectly seasoned. Definitely one of the best breakfast spots I’ve visited in Pittsburgh. 10/10 would highly recommend!

I have spent all week being so amazed at how kind the people of Pittsburgh are, everywhere we went from restaurants, to shopping stores, to coffee shops, and bars, the people of Pittsburgh have been so incredibly KIND. that ended on our last day when we decided to waste our morning at Kelly O’s. I really do think they need to put an instruction manual outside and put a big note on the front door that says “do not enter unless spoken to” there was a girl screaming at everyone who walked in telling them to wait outside and that they cant come in. Its our first time here, do you think I am a mind reader and know that you dont have a wait list? There were seats at the bar, how am i supposed to know that bar isnt first come like …….every other restaurant and bar in literal existence? Raising your voice at people is absurd. MY deepest apologizes for trying to over pay for some mediocre breakfast. Next time we visit we will go somewhere that talks to their patrons like human beings, I dont want to pay $40 for breakfast and getting yelled at.
Our sausage gravy biscuit was cold, and the pittsburgh benedict was good but the whites of the eggs were a little runny which is disgusting in my opinion. We would have given them another shot, but again, I dont want to pay to get yelled at by staff.

A group of 6 of us went here for breakfast. It was fantastic. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed it so much we went back the following day. Next time I’m in Pittsburgh, I’ll head there for breakfast!

Cute tight-knit diner in the strip. Came here with my friends and were greeted with warm smiles. It’s definitely a smaller place and gets packed but the food is WORTH IT! The Pittsburgh Eggs Benedict was something I’ve never seen before and man was it GOOD! My friends also enjoyed their food as well and the grilled cinnamon roll was the one!

Solid breakfast food (if not a bit I overpriced due to its notoriety) in a classic diner setting in the middle of Pittsburgh’s iconic Strip District.
The country fried steak and eggs with home fries were perfectly prepared, and the kids pancakes and fruit were well made and plentiful.
Service was meh, but not awful.
