Keipi is a non-profit restaurant that offers food, wine and experiential dining from the Republic of Georgia. Where on earth is that? Georgia is a distant country tucked away in the Caucasus surrounded by mountains and monasteries, where cultivating your own grapes and making toasts to the heroes and saints of old never went out of fashion. We fell in love with Georgian cuisine and its otherworldly hospitality, so much so that we felt responsible for bringing it back home to share with our Greenville community. Come and try our delicious khachapuri (cheese bread), Georgian wine (from an 8,000 year-old winemaking tradition), and of course stay for a Keipi, a Georgian toasting feast that you’ll fall in love with.

It turned out that you have to place your order at the bar yourself, but no one informed us of this when we were seated. Payment is also required immediately when ordering, and they suggest leaving a tip at that moment, which feels very strange since you don’t yet know what kind of service to expect.
We ordered khachapuri, khinkali, and two bowls of borscht. The khachapuri was brought out within 15 minutes, the khinkali arrived 40 minutes after ordering, but the soups for the children were never served even after an hour of waiting. We had to cancel the order and leave.
The restaurant makes a great first impression, but the service and preparation time leave much to be desired.
Their voice box says no reservations under 8 people but actually, you can reserve for fewer if you call less than 24 hours in advance. This was really confusing for us, but they were super nice and found us a table.
The food was exactly as I was hoping: amazing flavors, and generous portions. Very reasonable for the price!
Yes, the counter ordering is a little unusual, but it’s totally worth it. My new favorite place!
The portions are huge, almost like family-style dinners, which makes it perfect for a group. The khachipuri were absolutely out of this world (order the 3 smaller sizes to try), my favorite was the brie and fig one, and the beef kebabs were some of the best I’ve ever had. Not every dish was my personal favorite, but that was more about taste preferences than quality — everything was well prepared.
The value was incredible: there were 10 of us, and after eating until we were completely stuffed, the bill came to just over $200. For the quality, portion size, and overall experience, it was more than worth it. I’d definitely recommend it, especially if you’re coming with a group and want to share a variety of dishes.
We’ve been twice for dinner, and both make me think this is what restaurants should be. Food is sharable, portions are great, spices and aromatics are used appropriately, and the team is on top of things + great hosts. Looking forward to returning.
Seeing the restaurant bustling in a semi-deserted venue is a testament to the quality of the food the service.
Get the traditional kachapuri, the lamb, and a wine flight. The food is fresh, simple, and well executed.
I recommend the amber wine flight because it’s something different and delicious at the same time. Talk to the staff, you’ll learn this is a nonprofit establishment that uses the proceeds for volunteer work to various countries such as Georgia and Guatemala. The staff is passionate and on weekends they host family style dinners (which we will be back for).
