A tantalizing aroma of grilled meats and freshly baked bread lead you to Kebabgy, one of five top restaurants on the Promenade. Chefs use open charcoal barbeques to grill succulent cuts of lamb, chicken and more unusual meats such as pigeon. Traditional pita breads are baked in a special clay oven by artisan bakers – use them to mop up every delicious morsel. After a delicious meal in Kebabgy, take time to absorb the atmospheric surroundings of the Nile-side restaurant terrace. Live music from local bands mingles with the sound of the water gently lapping against the riverbank. You can sip a refreshing hibiscus tea and mingle with guests and locals enjoying a unique night out in Cairo.

We generally love Egyptian cuisine and we’ve been able to enjoy a great selection of it there.
We’d definitely recommend having the Eggplant Salad, Assorted Oriental Cold Mezzeh, Stuffed Vine Leaves (my girlfriend and I love to travel & eat a lot and those were the best ones we’ve ever had so far), Mix Grilled and Grilled Vegetables, putting it all in the middle and just share & enjoy!
Also: The freshly baked bread is wonderful and the Guava juice was very good.
The location at the very southern tip of Gezira island, right at river Nile is just amazing. Views are very lovely at sunset and night time.
Service provided by the waiters and all the other staff was very good. There might be some live traditional music performed from 19:00 on.
What you should also expect, is to receive a fairly higher bill by the end of your dinner. If you’re looking for a cheap meal, this isn’t your place to go. Still, the prices seem to be fair with the quality, service and atmosphere that come with it and the fact that it’s part of the next door Sofitel.
If you’re aware of that and fine with paying a bit of premium, you’ll enjoy your meal a lot!
Thx for everything
I would like to give special thanks to Amer, Mostafa, and Mohamed Tarek for their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail. They made the experience truly enjoyable and welcoming.
Highly recommended
However, halfway through our meal, we witnessed a local couple being seated in the exact same outdoor section and provided with a functioning heater immediately. It was incredibly upsetting to see “unavailable” equipment suddenly appear for locals while we, as tourists, were lied to. This felt like clear discrimination. We expected much higher standards from a brand like Sofitel. Truly disappointing—avoid this place if you expect equal treatment.
Special appreciation to Amer, Mostafa, and Mohamed Tarek — they were incredibly polite, helpful, and attentive. Their positive attitude really made a difference.
I will definitely be coming back again
