SUSHI IS BACK AT KAYUGA!!
As the only place in Boston to serve top notch Sushi till the early hours of the morning I started frequenting Kayuga as a junior prof at MIT. After a short hiatus I was delighted to hear that Soo (the owner) has decided to bring back what is likely the top quality sushi in the greater boston area. No it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but if you want exquisite quality and amazing service and don’t want to mortgage your home for a dinner this should be at the top of your list.

Came here on a late night with my daughter . Food was great! We didn’t do BBQ but everything we ordered was awesome! I enjoyed all their appetizers and the sizzling gizzards was great! The Agedashi tofu really hit the spot! Their Maewoon Tang soup was full of flavor. Food was fast, service was great. Atmosphere was nice. Would definitely return and bring more people so we can enjoy all the great food. Parking was easy for us but we came on a weekday. There was only street parking. Restaurant was spacious and table and chairs was decent size. Highly recommended.

Hands down best sushi I’ve had in the Boston Area! We ordered the Crispy Rice with Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki, Spicy Tuna Maki, Hamachi Jalapeño starter, and a few more side dishes. This is my third time back since Kayuga brought their sushi menu back a few weeks ago, everything I ordered was delicious, their fish is always fresh and consistent. 10/10

Kayuga is a family owned business, the owner Soo, is the kindest person I’ve ever met, she is always super welcoming and full of positive energy. Overall great atmosphere, amazing food, highly recommend!

Kayuga in Allston is my go-to for late-night Korean BBQ and hotpot. The meats are well-marbled and the portions generous. I love the fun, lively atmosphere, especially with friends. Plus, they’re open late — perfect for satisfying midnight Korean food cravings!

Walked in on a weeknight to a completely empty restaurant – no idea why it wasnt jam packed !! The food was amazing and was a typical price for what we got. The drinks were great as well. Our server offered to cook our meat for us and was attentive throughout the meal.

You get a good feeling going into the ambience of this restaurant.

The server also did a great job in understanding our needs and taking the order quick.

However, the taste of all the food we ordered, WAS SUBPAR.

Chicken was rubbery, rice cakes were harder to eat than usual and we just couldn’t enjoy the whole meal. They did a good job with Scallion pancakes though.

I honestly feel the chef here needs to check on the chicken in their food. It tasted little stale and rubbery like I mentioned.

For location, service and ambience: I feel it was good.
Overall 3/5 stars

Good option for a quick Korean meal or a late night K-BBQ near BU.

Initially perceived as a typical Japanese restaurant, I was surprised to discover its Korean focus during a recent late-night visit. The restaurant, with its clean, traditional Korean BBQ layout, exuded a welcoming vibe. While restaurant serving Korean and Japanese food under Chinese management might not sound appealing, the dishes I tried weren’t too bad.

Among the menu I ordered, the Chicken Gizzard, with its mix of peppers, garlic, and sesame oil, stood out. The Kimchi Fried Rice, while slightly Americanized lacking that extra kick of tanginess typical in Korean cuisine, was still quite enjoyable. The prompt service, with all the dishes arriving in under ten minutes, added to the positive experience.

Kayuga might not be my first choice for authentic Korean comfort food, but it certainly is a reliable option for those seeking a quick Korean meal or a casual K-BBQ experience in the BU area.

We came in for an early dinner at 5: 30 on a Wednesday and the restaurant was empty. Since we had the whole restaurant to ourselves, the service was top notch. Our server grilled and cut our meats into bite sizes and was very attentive.
Everything was delicious. We ordered fried oysters, which were crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. For the main course, we went with the 2-person combo, which came with 2 meats and 2 side orders. We chose pork belly and marinated short ribs to be served along with kimchi stew and soybean stew. Taste-wise, everything was perfect. However, I wished the pork belly were thicker cut. This restaurant serves them bacon-thin. We also enjoyed all the side dishes which were well fermented and seasoned. We will definitely be coming back.

SUPERB SERVICE AND FOOD. Our server, Dan, gave us the best recommendations for appetizers, food and gave us a small history of the plates! I cannot recommend this enough. ask for Dan.
