Located in The Heights, Jersey city this is one of the legacy places in the neighborhood and visiting the place for the first time since 2019. First time, the rates were pretty affordable but obviously given the inflation over the past 5 years the rates have been increased but still affordable.

Being a typical Chinese restaurant, just don’t expect a great ambiance as they prefer to focus more on the quality of food! The service is pretty fast as they delivered the food within 10 mins despite giving me a time limit of 15mins.

I ordered Hot and sour soup, Pan fried chicken dumplings and Veg Fried rice.

Hot and Sour soup: Initially thought it would be chicken but turned out veg. The soup was living to its name though it was a little less hot than expected and had mushrooms, veggies, and a good amount of soy sauce and it tasted good.

Pan fried chicken dumplings: Initially thought of ordering steamed but went for pan fried and loved it! The layering was good not too thick and thin whereas I wish the chicken had a bit of spices but I think they had added chives. The soy sauce accompanied by it was good too.

Veg Fried rice: Fried rice had snow peas, broccoli, carrot, green peas, baby corn. The rice though felt a bit dry and could have been better. They served it in a takeout box and the box was a pretty cute one!

Overall an affordable place to get good Chinese food within the neighborhood.

I’ve lived in The Heights for 10 years. I’ve tried many of the local Chinese restaurants, but none of them stood out until now. Kay’s Spring Garden is next-level delicious. We ordered the egg roll as an apitizer. They were fresh, not greasy( you could tell they change the grease they fry them in frequently ). Had the pork Lo mein and Sesame Chicken for our main course, and they hit the mark again. Tasty, fresh, and clean. If you’re looking for great Chinese food in The Heights, look no further, Kay’s is it!!!!

Recently moved to the neighborhood so after seeing their good reviews I was excited to try this takeout place but was sadly disappointed.

I ordered from their website which was an easy experience. I ordered the Orange Chicken combo, General Tso’s Chicken combo, Crab Rangoon’s, and Pork Lo Mein. The price came to $29 total without tip. The website said delivery should take 20-30 minutes but unfortunately it actually took 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach my door. I would’ve been empathetic with the long delivery time if he was on a bike but he showed up in his car. I called them after 45 minutes but they didn’t answer the phone until the 5th time I called them. Loss of 1 star for poor delivery experience.

The food was still warm but in my order instructions I requested spicy mustard packets. I do this because it shows if a restaurant pays attention to the small details. If a restaurant pays attention to the small details you can bet that the food will be excellent. Unfortunately this restaurant failed that test as they forgot the spicy mustard. Loss of star.

The combo’s come with pork fried rice, bottled water, and egg roll. The egg roll tasted stale. The fried rice was good. We enjoyed the Crab Rangoon’s as it was a good ratio cream cheese to crab. The Pork Lo Mein was oily and didn’t have a lot of flavor. The General Tso’s Chicken was good but the Orange Chicken was dry. Overall the food was decent but not good enough to want to order from here again. Loss of 1 star.

Ordered food last week here after a year. Food quality and taste is good as usual but bit disappointed with hot and sour soup this time it was too sweet like sweet corn instead of spicy and though they’ve charged extra for eggs for fried rice and noodles but we didn’t find much eggs on our food.

WORST chini restaurant around Central Ave. Ordered a fried wings order which was immediately handed over which I suspected that would be stale and dry as it was NOT fried fresh but pre fried and kept. The wings were dry and shrunked. I wonder how this joint is still in business. The front desk is also rude. Price also expensive. Pls do NOT pamper this.

Live: Less busy than usual
Usually no wait NO WONDER the Live situation say NOT busy. No wonder who would return !!!!!

I was in Jersey City and was craving Chinese food. Kay’s Spring Garden had decent reviews, so I figured I’d give it a try. I actually ordered online to pick up, which was a smooth process. I arrived and the staff were super friendly. I ordered the general tso’s shrimp combination platter, which comes with rice and an egg roll. The shrimp was tasty and done well. It was only about $9 for the platter, so you don’t get a ton of food, but it was a good portion for the price. The egg roll was a bit over fried, so was a bit harder than I prefer. Overall, it was a decent experience, with decent food, at a decent price!
