A restaurant that captivates from the first moment with its minimalist and sophisticated style. The decor is clean, modern, and harmonious, creating a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere perfect for enjoying a meal without distractions. Every detail is carefully considered, from the soft lighting to the impeccable presentation of the dishes.

The true star is the fish: fresh, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The quality is evident in every bite. The texture is tender and juicy, and the seasoning is perfectly balanced, highlighting the natural flavor without overpowering it. Definitely one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever tasted.

An ideal place for those seeking an elegant dining experience, with excellent quality and a modern, relaxing ambiance. I would definitely return again and again.

Came for weekend brunch with family. We all had different things so I managed to get a taste of many dishes. Really excellent food, the oysters with leche de Tigre and aji Amarillo were great. Ceviche and grilled mushroom humus was also done very well. The branzino for the brunch price fixe was cooked perfectly and the risotto excellent . Deserts were also very good. Attentive servers and great decor. Will be back.

This is my second time here and honestly … it’s always a vibe. The food is amazing. Service is great. The bartender Miguel was great so friendly! And the General Manager Juan Carlos was super sweet too! They actually had good Spanish music too! Lol I had the lomo saltado a lo pobre , ceviche , jalea, tempura and the yucas omg!
Probably the best spot to try pisco sours tbh. Thank you for such a great experience ! ☺️

I absolutely loved visiting this restaurant! It offers Peruvian fusion cuisine with Asian influences — modern, elegant, and with a great atmosphere.

We started with the tostones with guacamole, and I loved that the server presented all the ingredients and prepared the guacamole right in front of us — such a fresh and fun touch.

The Kayao ceviche was delicious, with perfectly balanced acidity and flavor. But the highlight of the night was the Pollo Anticuchero — an airline cut chicken served with a flavorful glaze, incredibly juicy and tender, it literally melted in the mouth. The endive salad on the side was a great complement.

Overall, an excellent dining experience with great attention to detail, beautiful presentation, and authentic, well-executed flavors. I’d definitely go back!

This place rocks. The servers are nice, the food is fantastic, the drinks are delicious. We just randomly stopped in during restaurant week and stopped by the bar and had one of the best meals we’ve ever had. I’m so passionate about this place, I’m reviewing it while I’m still here!

Really quaint and cozy with a little ambiance and flair. Excellent service. Friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and served with aesthetics in mind. The cocktails were clever and delicious, so many choices, all 6 of us ordered a different drink.

We sat in the window. It was very private and cozy, perfect for a girl’s night out.

Visiting from NYC for mine/my partner’s anniversary and we were blown away by how excellent Kayao is – so very highly recommended. Peruvian/Asian fusion food with a heavy emphasis on seafood, and amazing service to boot. Our waiter, Sergio, was as friendly and welcoming as one could ever hope for, and it helps that his recommendations for his favorite dishes exactly aligned with our original choices >:) . All of the other staff were extremely kind and attentive as well, helping make this an exemplary anniversary.

Ordered the guacamole, ceviche nikkei (yellowfin tuna), pulpo parrillero, short rib, and lucuma ice cream for dessert, and every dish was a stand out. Guacamole is mixed at the table and comes with some yummy taro chips. Chunky and satisfying. The ceviche nikkei had such an intriguing and pleasingly biting sesame/citrus sauce that perfectly accentuated the fresh yellowfin tuna that we couldn’t help but mop up our leftover chips and guac with the salsa. Then wonderfully soft octopus with potatoes and romesco sauce, followed by a ridiculously tender short rib that straddled the line between solid and liquid phases, served with a lovely smooth potato puree. Picked the lucuma ice cream for dessert, as our waiter Sergio recommended, which was smooth but not rich; a distinct flavor that’s hard to place, complemented by a chocolate sauce. To our surprise, we were also greeted by a comped panna cotta (also delicious, as we’ve come to expect – crispy fruit atop a delicate, luscious yogurt) and champagne to celebrate our anniversary.

Overall, can’t recommend Kayao enough. Really want to emphasize how good of a server Sergio was, as well as the rest of the crew, and chefs too – everyone really; absolutely made us feel appreciated and attended on. Will surely be a staple for us when we return to Chicago, very happy we came here.

We had a great meal at Kayao, including the Acevichado, Mantaco Tartare, Ceviche Nikkei, Ceviche Clasico, Arroz con Mariscos and Chaufa. Everything was high quality and delicious. Dayan was our server and was excellent. She was friendly and gave us great guidance on menu selections. Each dish was coursed nicely with a description of each dish as it was presented.

Had a great experience and the food was delicious. Ordered off the Chicago Restaurant Week menu; Yucas Trufadas and Arroz Con Mariscos. Split both desserts with my dinner guest. We were there around 7pm and service was great, the staff was attentive and helpful. They have an enclosed outdoor area which I’d like to come back and check out someday. Plus, want to try some dishes I saw from their regular menu.
