Magnificent place for their ramen. The black garlic ramen broth was out of this world. Nice hearty bowls that will fill you up. I will have to come back and try the rest of their menu, especially the sushi. The service was very fast and very friendly. The eastern wall is a large garage door for open air, summer dining. It also has a very nice bar.

This was genuinely one of the most disappointing ways to spend $90 I’ve come across. The red snapper looked and tasted old. The katsu extremely light on flavor and was a lot more thin than it looks in my photo. Ramen was extremely mediocre and fairly salty.

A good friend of mine and I had a wonderful time here. The Japanese esthetic is on point, wonderful service, Ramen, delicate and delicious sushi & well-cooked fried rice. You could tell that everything was cooked fresh and day of no tight dry shrimp or off flavors anywhere. Lastly that misogyny soup and apple sake… whew! so good. Literally my only single complaint was posed the manager by my friend cause night and day but… with all them folk there ❤️ but we all have our days. Looking to another wonderful meal.

Had a wonderful dining experience at this sushi spot! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented—every bite was a treat. The location is amazing, with a great ambiance that adds to the overall experience. On top of that, the customer service was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome from start to finish. Today I ordered two pieces of eel sushi and two pieces of shrimp sushi at Kawa Ramen & Sushi. Both were fresh and flavorful—the eel was tender with just the right amount of sweet-savory glaze, and the shrimp was clean-tasting with a nice, firm bite. Presentation was neat, and everything held together well.
What made the experience even better was the service. My server, Neccy, was excellent—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. Her warm personality really added to the meal and made us feel welcome.
It was a small order this time, but the quality of the sushi and the great service stood out. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu, and will be looking forward to Neccy’s wonderful service again.

First visit. Tried the pork ramen, excellent broth. 4 pieces pork belly, noodles not mushy, would have preferred a runny egg to soft boiled. Arrived 1 hr after opening time, the frozen drink I wanted to order still not available for another hour. The lychee sour tasty. Service fine. When seating people and the restaurant not full, they don’t space instead infill right next to you. Adds to noise and takes up winter coat space. Plenty noise from pounding sushi assembly area, was glad I wasn’t sitting closeby.

If we didn’t have such a great server, this would be a 1 star review. Maybe I’m spoiled by eating in the Chicago area more often than the Milwaukee area, but this was probably one of the most underwhelming meals for the money I’ve had in a long time. We ordered dynamite shrimp, this was the best food we had, although a rather small serving for $8. Followed up with wasabi dumplings, I usually like wasabi, but this had an overpowering amount of wasabi that drowned out whatever filling was in these, also, only 4 dumplings in this appetizer.
I ordered hot tea, it came out cold, not warm, not even room temperature, it was almost as cold as my ice water. The server was kind enough to bring me a new one but, really?
Finally, the ramen, the thing we came for, the thing this place seems to be known for. Again, not hot, thankfully not cold, but basically luke warm soup, the Tonkotsu Ramen had good flavor, and was what I would call a normal size serving, but the temperature of it made it kind of difficult to eat. My wife got the Black Garlic Ramen, which added a sudble burnt taste to everything in her bowl, as well as being luke warm. I would not return here.

Kawa ramen on north Murry in MKE is outstanding. Up there with the best ramen I’ve ever enjoyed. In fairness- ramen always tastes and feels better on a cold, windy and rainy day like the day I was there.
We arrived at 1 pm on a weekday and the place was busy but we were seated immediately. Server arrived quickly to greet, deliver menus and get beverage order. Had the green tea but wish they had decaf options. Full menu including sushi and other Japanese dishes.
They have 5 options for ramen and our party ordered the seafood and black garlic with edamame starter. Stater arrived quickly and was tasty and mildly salted. Entrees arrived in a few minutes and were hot and tasty. Seafood chock full of large fresh tasting shrimp, scallops, crab and octopus is a beautiful satisfying broth. Yum. The black garlic broth was a couple of notches up in terms of flavor and impact. Really nice with generous portions of pork. Noodles were ample and fine.
Service was very good- our server (Leo) was attentive, friendly and helpful. The table next to us had a young women server and she was also great- friendly, patient and lighthearted with the older father and son enjoying their meal. At one point the father was transferring his left over ramen from the awkward shaped bowl into a tall to go container and he accidentally knocked it over spilling the contents everywhere. The server came over immediately with towels and set the man at ease- told him not to worry about it, she would take care of it, was he ok, it happens all the time, etc. Bravo- it was how I would want to be treated and certainly how I’d want my elderly father to be treated .
I’ll be back at kawa soon to enjoy the outstanding food and service to match.

This place is a gem for Ramen lovers. My bf and I shared a bowl of Hellfire Ramen with the max spicy level and it was just so perfect! It was not too hot!
The Dumplings were super yum. It almost tasted like Nepalese Momo Dumplings (which are my favorite!).
Its a 100% recommended place!
