I loved it! This was my first foray into Uzbeki food and I think they nailed it. We had plov, mastava, stroganoff, a potato boat, pasta rolls, and finished off the meal with honey cake. All of the savory dishes were fantastic, and the honey cake as delectable. The restaurant is very cozy as well, making is a perfect place to eat in the cold of winter.

My only critique was that the baklava we got was stale. Had that been fresh I’d give this 5 stars.

What a unique and interesting culinary experience! While visiting Pittsburgh, my dad, my husband, and I stumbled upon Kavaar for dinner one evening. Be sure to double check their hours because there are only certain evenings where dine in is an option. We made that mistake and showed up the night before and rather than do takeout decided to wait and come back the following evening.

Once we were able to dine in, we let the waitress guide us in terms of what to order and how much. We ended up having an absolute feast, but the food was phenomenal.

For our dishes, we ordered the carrot salad, dumplings, bread with cheese and potatoes, samsa, beef stroganoff, and Uzbek Plov.

Each and every dish was so unique but packed full of flavor. I really loved them all but the dish that surprised me the most and kept me wanting more was the carrot salad. It seemed so simple in its ingredients and construction, but it was so flavorful and unlike anything I have ever tried before.

This is definitely a cuisine I am not as familiar with, but after this experience, I would undoubtedly be a regular customer here if I lived in the area.

A Hidden Gem of Uzbek Hospitality and Flavor!
I had a fantastic experience at this Uzbek restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — rich flavors, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt homemade and full of tradition.

The host was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The interior design was stunning — a beautiful blend of cultural elegance and modern comfort. The atmosphere was cozy, vibrant, and full of good energy.

Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Uzbek cuisine and a memorable dining experience!

This was my first time trying Uzbek food and I was not disappointed!

My partner and I tried the following foods and here are my personal ratings:
-Samsa ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Perfectly crispy and I loved the spicy garlic sauce on the side!
-Uzbek plov ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
OBSESSED. I was struck by how it was able to taste so clean yet nuanced at the same time. The spices were so aromatic and fragrant, and the contrast with the freshness of the vegetables was perfectly balanced.
-Lagman with beef ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very flavorful sauce and the noodles were perfectly chewy. Idk what to say. It was so good.
-Manty ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I think i was getting full at time point. I probably would have liked these better if I wasnt already stuffed lmao. Anyway these were tasty and the filling was giving bao vibes, if you attended an Asian church growing up.
-Cake ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Adorable presentation (I dug in too fast so no picture…) and so delicious. I loved the nutty flavors. I personally didnt need the sweet sauces on top as the cake and cream were sweet enough but maybe someone else would love the cakes with those sweet sauces!

Best Halal restaurant I’ve been to. I ordered stir fry with small bread, and it was absolutely delicious, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. I also tried their new dessert, the Golden melt croissant, and it was incredible. Crispy, warm, and full of rich flavor, if your a sweet person highly recommend it. Everything exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing halal food. I will definitely be coming back !

Went here for my partner’s birthday with my family, we’d gotten takeout before and wanted to try going in person since the option became available. The food was amazing, the interior is lovely, and we all had a great time! We ordered a ton of things on the menu and every one was great, we’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I had an amazing experience at Kavsar, Pittsburgh’s authentic Uzbek restaurant. The food was rich and flavorful — the soups and traditional dishes were cooked with care and tasted like homemade comfort food. The Uzbek bread was especially delicious, perfect to enjoy with every bite.

What made the evening even better was our waitress, Svetlana. She was incredibly kind, attentive, and helped guide us through the menu. Svetlana made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Her warm service and friendly attitude added so much to our meal — she truly made our visit special.

The atmosphere was cozy and unique, and I highly recommend Kavsar to anyone looking for something different and delicious in Pittsburgh. I’ll definitely return!
