Katsu Bar in Chino brings back my love for Japanese katsu sandwiches — but with a Korean twist that makes this spot stand out. Almost everything is under $15, which makes it a great place for a quick, casual meal without breaking the bank.
What I recommend:
•Rosemary Katsu Sando w/ Waffle Fries – Soft bread, crispy katsu, and when you add the spicy mayo, the flavors really pop. The waffle fries are crunchy and fun.
• Curry Katsu Plate – Big portion with delicious chicken katsu. The rice has more texture than other places, which I personally loved, and it pairs perfectly with the curry.
• Yubu Pockets – Cute little bites with different fillings, fun to share.
• Korean Gang Jung – Crispy chicken bites with a sweet-savory glaze, blending Japanese and Korean flavors.
• Calamari – Perfectly fried and crunchy, especially the squid legs (my favorite part!).
• Strawberry Sando – A sweet finish to the meal. Soft bread, fresh strawberries, and light cream that’s not overly sweet.
Overall, this place is creative, affordable, and tasty — whether you’re craving comfort katsu or want to try fun fusion bites. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Chino!
We were in the mood for katsu curry and decided to try a newly opened restaurant in the area. We were seated promptly upon arrival, and the space was clean and well maintained. A fun touch was the in house photo booth, perfect for those looking to capture a moment during your visit.
We ordered the Katsu Plate and the Black Garlic Udon Katsu. The Chicken Katsu was excellent, crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The curry was a standout, offering just the right level of spice to keep each bite satisfying and crave worthy.
Service was another highlight. Our waitress was exceptionally friendly and attentive, contributing to an overall pleasant dining experience.
I ordered the Pork Katsu Plate with Japanese curry at the spicy level, and it was a delightful experience. The curry had the perfect amount of heat, balanced with rich, deep flavors that paired beautifully with the tender and crispy pork. The refreshing side salad was a great complement, adding a crisp, light touch to the meal.
I also tried the Pork Katsu Sandwich, which was equally impressive. The katsu was fried to perfection with a golden, crispy exterior and a savory, juicy interior. It was the perfect balance of texture and flavor, making it an instant favorite.
With such high-quality dishes and a welcoming atmosphere, I’ll definitely be back to explore more of their menu options. Highly recommend giving Katsu Bar a try—you won’t be disappointed!
Highlights of the menu:
1. Rosemary katsu sandos with berry katsu sauce, waffle fries
2. Tteokbokki with katsu with chicken
3. Mushrom plate
4. Black garlic udon with katsu with pork
5. Yubu pockets: bulgogi, spicy tuna, garlic butter shrimp, cheese Buldak (spicy chicken)
6. Korean gangjung (tender bites) with sweet & spicy garlic
Im a huge katsu curry fan so hearing this place opened nearby I had to try.
The food: i ordered the chicken katsu curry, which came with chicken, rice, lettuce, tomato radish. I also opted for the spicy curry for $.50 more. As a fan I will say this was pretty good. The curry was spicy and flavorful. The chicken was breast rather than thigh which I prefer so thats great. It was nice and crispy. The rice was alright, but could be better.
The service: when entering, ordering is done with a tablet. Im mostly ok with this as this allows me to take my time to make selections however there needs to be more tablets to allow others from not getting bottlenecked. I did find it strange not everything on their menu was on their tablet. Maybe they werent ready to sell those yet? The staff were friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed even though it wasnt hugely crowded. Perhaps the online orders were adding to it.
Atmosphere: The inside definitely looks like they were going for instagramable. Personally that isnt my vibe. The entire left side of the store is a “self photo studio”. If it were up to me, I would get rid of the studio and add more tables.
If I had any real negatives, the price is a bit high for a casual resteraunt like this.
The atmosphere was very chill very relaxing good place to just relax. Very clean too.
They have a photo booth too. I didn’t use when I went
