In 1998, Buddy Guindon, his wife Katie, and his brother Kenny opened Katie’s Seafood Market in Galveston, Texas. For more than 20 years now, Katie’s Seafood Market has provided the highest quality of products available to its customers. The majority of seafood comes from local fishermen and shrimpers, including Red Snapper, Grouper, Golden Tile Fish, Flounder, Oysters, Shrimp, and Blue Crabs. As a supporter of the local economy, In September of 2019, Buddy opened Katie’s Seafood House, next to the market. Katie’s seafood market supplies the restaurant with all fresh seafood. We take pride in being the only local seafood restaurant on the island that brings fresh fish straight from the boat and to your table.
A locally sourced menu of homestyle seafood dishes is featured at this unfussy waterfront eatery.

A great place! My husband had the shrimp rodeo platter and wow! Shrimp every way, and a lot of it. The shrimp cocktail was amazing!
I had the catch of the day and shrimp platter. Mine also included the crab mac’n cheese, and it was delicious! Our server, Alex, was great—ask for his section when you go.(Outside heaters were awesome!)

Food was fabulous! Go Texan Shrimp Rodeo platter was a belly full! Dockside Oysters were good. Would not recommend Red Snapper Wings. It’s a cool novelty, but would not order again. (It’s the pectoral fin section of the fish battered and deep fried. Usually, this would go to waste when filleting the fish.) Red Snapper sandwich was excellent as well as the chef’s catch.

Wow!! They said 45 minute to 60 minute wait, because they were busy. It was only about 30. Seated quickly after we came back in. Jessica took great care of us with beverages. Then the stater was crazy good. The shrimp cocktail was absolutely awesome. Portions are huge so we split a few things and so glad we did then we could taste a larger amount of the great menu.
Food is out of this world, service even better and such a cool place. Highly recommend highly recommend!!

my mom and i came and were immersed into the entire experience. if you want boat-to-table SEASONED seafood variety, this is the place. we had Elle as our server and she was phenomenal and knowledgeable about every dish / drink we asked about. she was always on top of all of her tables and even gave the chef recommendation at the start (which we went with and let me just say a m a z i n g). we even had the massive mint ice cream to split and didn’t go over the top in the dessert course but it was just as phenomenal. thank you to the kind staff and the chef as well for an amazing experience.

First, the good parts: the Blue Crab Rangoons – which apparently only appear on the happy hour bar menu – and not the sit down regular menu – are life-affirming. I’m grateful for having to wait at the bar for my outdoor table, otherwise I would not have known about the “bar snacks” menu. Once I was seated, my waitress kindly secured a last minute order of the Rangoons for me – and WOW. The wontons were super-plump, stuffed with tons of real blue crab and cream cheese – and the sauce was a fantastic combination of sweet chili and gochujang. I wish I had made this my meal. Instead, I also ordered the Texas fried shrimp and red fish. At $42, I expected something truly amazing and sadly it was far from that. The shrimp did NOT taste fresh (despite the “boat to table” promise, the shrimp tasted like dirty dishwater) and the fries were those double-cooked “battered” fries I simply don’t like. The beer-battered red snapper was great, but not $42 great. And while my server was super-outgoing and friendly, there were several tiny things with the service that also fell short (my glass of wine and my glass of water took forever to arrive; I asked for no onion rings, slaw, or sauces and yet received them all). In short, I think there are some gems on the menu here – but I’d steer clear of the shrimp and, frankly, the inexplicably expensive dishes.

Excellent, fresh food!! Highly recommended!!! Got the sizzling grouper and shrimp and it was so fresh tasting, the flavors were absolutely amazing! It really hit the spot. We also got a burger that was delicious, street corn that tasted so good like it does in new york, and the mashed potatoes had a special sauce on it that made it banging. Our server was super helpful with recommendations and guiding us. Love this place, will be back for sure!

The service here is amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions.
The chowder we got was really flavorful and set our expectations high for the rest of the meal.
The snapper wings are a must try here. Very crispy and unique.
The sizzling grouper and Texas Gulf shrimp platter was recommended as one of the most popular dishes. However we were disappointed by the fish. It was a bit dry and lacking in flavors. The shrimps were good, but not extraordinary. The rice was mushy and wet.
For dessert, we got the cola da cheesecake. It was delicious, pretty sweet but not overwhelming.

We enjoyed a family afternoon in Galveston and chose Katie’s Seafood House for an early dinner. We started with the Crab Cakes & Smkmed Fish & Shrimp Dip. Both were very delicious! The crab cakes came with some fried crab claws on the side which were amazing, and the dip was creamy with large chunks of smoked fish inside! For dinner we chose the Broiled Seafood platter which came out presented beautifully (Brett and Ty even added a little extra crab meat on top of the blue crab). The flounder was flaky and seasoned perfectly. The frog bomb was a nice addition, and the grilled shrimp were amazing! I had a dozen oysters on the half shell which came with nice sauces to mix. My wife enjoyed a Caesar salad, and a crab meat Mac & cheese which was large enough to share as a side or enjoyed as a meal for one. The kids had sliders and popcorn shrimp.
We didn’t have a chance to, but if you have time stop by the seafood market to see the fresh catches for the day!

Whoa!
Katie’s for the Win in Best Seafood and Service.
This is my go-to spot in Galveston for Seafood!
I ate so much that it took me 3 trips to make it back to my car.
First thing I’m gonna do when I get back home is break my fishing Pole. Cause there ain’t no more seafood, unless it’s from Katie’s.
Best Bloody Mary – Check
Crazy good Shrimp served 6 ways on one plate. – Check
Wife had Blue Crab and 3 kinds of sauces and grits plus pasta. Sheer Awesomeness!
Garlic bread with cheese. So good it’d make angels cry.
Just crazy good food served by staff that should be salesmen not servers. Top game from management to bus table service.
Significantly impressed.
Only thing I didn’t like was I had to stop.
Best food ever.

We’ve been here before, and always enjoyed the food. Today’s special was over the top. Fresh snapper with shrimp and lump crab meat. Our server (Chance) was great, and made a couple good recommendations we appreciated. So to be brief. Atmosphere is authentic. Food is great, and fresh. Service is good as it gets. Highly recommend.
