There are not too many options for dining in the Badlands so I searched Google and found Katie’s Kantina. The five star rating and terrific reviews did not lie. The food was delicious and Katie was super nice! Quick service with a smile and a delicious take on a taco shell. The fried cheese on the outside of the shell made this a unique tasting taco. Definitely get the key lime pie as well.
Adding my 5 star to the rest happily!

Memorably friendly and delicious. Every morsel handmade and scrumptious, seasoned to perfection. I wish I had gotten a photo of the pie. I challenge you to find better anywhere. We are now officially spoiled. Thank you for cooking for us! This food truck is a ten out of five.

We had the best tacos in the badlands! Katie’s Kantina does not disappoint. Fresh quality ingredients with great flavor. Even the beans and rice were delicious. Would highly recommend everything we ordered including a beef burrito as well as cheese crusted beef and chicken tacos. We also got the birria tacos which were on special and they were incredible. Cold coke products to drink and we grabbed a few beers from the gas station across the street to enjoy with our tacos. If you are visiting the badlands stop in at Katie’s, it will be the best decision you’ve made that day!

Wildly good! Best burrito I’ve had in quite some time. At time of review it was $20 for burrito and drink, but it’s a BIG burrito, think QDoba or Chipotle but bigger and way better quality. I will absolutely be making this my main dinner spot every time I’m in the badlands.
Additionally, there is indoor AC seating but the outdoor seating is covered and angled in such a way that sunset does not blind you but you still get an amazing view of the badlands.
Highly recommended

We were initially sceptical of the good reviews and slightly disappointed by the lack of food options here. But Katie’s food did not disappoint at all! In fact, it was spectacularly well-made and flavourful and better than most restaurants. We got the seasoned beef tacos and pulled pork burrito. Both were exceptional. Even the sides – rice and beans – were amazing as well. Highly recommended!

One of only three food places serving visitors to the Badlands National Park. Katie is delightful and her food is even better. Tacos is her specialty and they are cheese covered and they are amazing.
I’ve included a bunch of pictures. My favorite was the chicken, my wife’s was the pulled pork. The beef was also tasty.
The surprise hit was the Chickles! These are melted cheese on the grill folded onto cut pickles and they are cut and served. Katie is an expert and it shows. No sauce needed, but she offers a buttermilk dressing with them. Highly recommended!

If you’re ever in the Badlands and looking for a bite to eat, there is a small, charming food truck located in Interior, SD called Katie’s Kantina. This is a taco truck not to be missed! The cook is Katie, and the tacos are crazy good! Katie lives in the Badlands because she loves it. A former teacher, this little gem is the ticket to Katie’s dream of living in an incredibly breathtaking part of the country. Granted, she doesn’t have much competition, but her food can compete with any taco truck ANYWHERE! If you need dessert, there are only two options but you don’t need any more! The key lime pie is delicious and the churros are too!
