Honestly, I was pretty disappointed. The portion sizes were quite small for the price, which already felt off. On top of that, both the curry and the biryani were extremely oily/ghee-heavy, to the point where it felt greasy and not very enjoyable to eat.
Flavor-wise, it was just okay and not at all impressive . I ordered it spicy, but it still came out very mild. It felt like they just added some jalapeños on top, which didn’t really add heat or depth.
The staff member who handed over the order was friendly but overall the food just didn’t feel worth the money. If you’re South Asian and used to eating authentic karahi or biryani, you’ll probably notice the difference right away.
It’s a great location, and I really hope they improve because the potential is there, but I personally wouldn’t go back.
I was walking by with my hands full from the market and I turned back around to go inside.
I ordered food to go. The dishes came out so beautifully even being carted back in a bag.
It speaks to the care the restaurant staff has, from owners to cooks, for the community and for food itself.
What I got this first time:
Red Chicken Karahi
— This is bone in chicken and a signature non-dairy dish at Kastoori Grill.
* I had it seasoned to medium from (mild, medium, hot)
* The spice is delightful on your lips.
* Chicken falls off the bone.
– Perfectly cooked.
Garlic Naan
– I dipped the garlic naan in the Karahi sauce.
– Must get this again. Large pieces of bread and heated up beautifully the next day.
Paired with a petit Sirah.
Chicken Seekh Kabab
– I was so full from the Naan and Chicken Karahi I ate the seekh kababs the next day.
Saffron Rice
– A multitude of flavors in the rice, could eat spoonfuls on its own or mixed in with anything.
Paired with a Mango Lasi.
I’m thrilled to go back, dine in at the restaurant, and on my list to try next will be the Chicken Biryani, Vegetable Pakora, Goat Karahi, and Aloo Tikki!
The decor could be a little more aesthetic but that’s no issue at all, would def be visiting again and again!
Mixed grill platter :7/10 (seekh kababs and malai botis were sooo good rest were okay)
Creamy karahi: 8/10 really liked this
Makhni daal: 20/10 ( they gave this to us for free to try and it ended up being our fav dish!)
Naans were great too and so big! Great value for money!
WONDERFUL chicken korma and goat korma…and the spice level was great. Ordered spicy and got exactly what I ordered…it was packed with flavor. Will definitely return again. Congrats on the new business!
I ordered the biryani, which was a standout. The rice was flavorful, the spices were well balanced, and the portion was more than fair. We also had the fish, and it was amazing — perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and fresh. Everything came out hot, and you can tell real care goes into the food.
The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed, which made it easy to enjoy the meal. Great food, great service, and a place I’d definitely come back to and recommend.
