Mind-Blowing Sushi with a Lakeside View
We had a 7 PM reservation at Kashiwa—(formally known as The Landing) and we’re so glad we did! Even on a Wednesday night, the place was bustling, which speaks volumes. This cute little spot on Lake Michigan is a gem for anyone who appreciates great food and a peaceful atmosphere.
As sushi enthusiasts, we came with high hopes—and Kashiwa absolutely delivered. The sushi was mind-blowing. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every bite was a wow moment. The menu has something for everyone, but if you love sushi, this place will steal your heart.
We were lucky to sit at a window seat overlooking the lake, which made the evening feel extra special. The gardens just outside were well cared for and added a lovely touch to the view. Our waitress and her trainee were both informative, kind, and attentive—making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming.
This was a beautiful dining experience for two. Whether you’re local or just passing through, Kashiwa is absolutely worth the visit. Peaceful, delicious, and full of heart.

I’ve lived in Seattle for 13 years where there is a lot of great sushi, and this is genuinely some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. They obviously have excellent sources on fish and the chef makes beautiful rolls.

Where do I start. Made reservations showed up a couple minutes early was immediately seated. 20 minutes later no drink order. Another 10 plus minutes go by I finally flagged down a different server. After I watch our server bring a dessert tray around to three other tables before bringing our drinks. Finally get our drinks get our order placed with the different server cuz ours is still off in La La Land. Now the waiting game.
At this point it’s well over an hour since we’ve been here still no food. Finally our food arrives sushi is okay, The fish was horrible this is supposed to be a steak and fish joint The fish was unedible and we set the plate to the side. Our server came by asked how it is and we told her the fish is horrible.
At this point we just want to get some dessert to go and be done with this experience.
We order a couple pieces of cheesecake to go and she comes with the bill. The fish wasn’t taking off our bill the entire experience was a joke I don’t recommend going there this was supposed to be a steakhouse / fish House far from and their sushi is just okay.
I recommend finding someplace else this place has a lot of issues with staffing out front and back of house.

Several months ago I walked in thinking about a steak dinner. To my surprise there was a whole new menu including sushi. It was amazing and have been back numerous times since then as I’ve traveled through town. Tried two new rolls today, Lava and Firecracker. 10/10 by far best sushi I’ve ever had.

Good, the name of this place is different on the menu than what’s on the building. Food was over priced for what it was. The service could’ve been better.
