We were headed to see our son at State College and stopped in for breakfast on our way out. The restaurant is right in town, there is plenty of street parking and there is a lot across the street. We were seated right away in the lower level. The service was fine, maybe a touch slow but not a problem. The food is VERY good and is priced reasonably. If you’re a local you must know about this place already and if you’re passing through I would recommend stopping in for a bite.

Got the honey lemon ginger latte- really good but they only have whole milk or oat milk
My over medium eggs and potato pancake were good. The potato pancake was not was I was expecting. Very crispy and fried vs a soft pancake like I was expecting. Food came out quick and service was good.

My fiancé held a baby shower there on 1/31. Paid $800 for a venue that was nothing more than a breezeway to apartments above the food / service was terrible. The owner did not appreciate my review. I did attend event and I was in room when Alisha called to discuss a possible resolution. Instead of taking her comments constructively you basically blew her off. Offering a cheap $75 food voucher to a “restaurant” that is over priced with terrible food.
I take it insulting he challenge my attendance at function. As I WAS THERE AND FIND IT pathetic you say I was not just to get poor rating removed. You facility is subpar at best. And your cooking SUCKS

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the event, a baby shower, I hosted at Karlton Cafe on Saturday Jan 31st.
My primary concern is that it was not disclosed that the “room” I booked is actually a lobby area for the residents who have apartments . Had I known this area was a public thoroughfare, I would not have booked the event. It was very cold in that space, and the constant disruptions from residents and Amazon deliveries opening and closing the door made it even colder. The 2 small space heaters did not heat the area adequately.
I was also very disappointed with the quality of the food and service:
– The wraps were soggy and unidentifiable; the lettuce was not fresh, and most guests found them unpleasant to eat.
– The cheese platter appeared to be pre-packaged grocery store cheese, and the salad was served in a plastic container rather than a bowl, the salad was good, just not presented well.
– The drink service was poor; we had to request refills ourselves. The lemonade was extremely sour.
– The hummus and potato salad were the only acceptable items. The Chicken Rice soup was ok.
I did speak with James and he did send me a 75.00 gift card as compensation.

As soon as we walked in we noticed how dirty the “open kitchen” and surrounding area was. Cooks eating while cooking, doesnt seem to appetizing. Dining area smelled! Food sucked, bacon was burnt, pancakes raw and the waffles tasted frozen. Will not be back.

I dine out nearly every Wednesday and Thursday for brunch while at work. Every meal is exquisitely crafted. The owner and all of their employees are very friendly and kind. I’ve put all of my coworkers onto this gem of an establishment and they love it as well! Great people and phenomenal food. Keep it up 🙂

Absolutely exceptional food and service. I cant say enough good things about this wonderful place! I went with 2 friends recently and we got different kinds of Benedict’s just because they all sounded amazing! Its cozy and comfortable atmosphere and the seating is ideal.
