California Burrito Rating (26)

On the hunt for the best California Burrito. This is already spot number twenty-six on my list. Today’s stop: Karina’s Ceviches & More.

The Burrito: Looks like they wrapped the burrito a little sloppy because all the good stuff slid down to the bottom. So at first you’re just eating tortilla, potatoes, and some basic-tasting meat. Halfway through you finally get that creamy sauce mixed with avocado, and that combo is legit tasty. Overall it eats like a regular burrito, but since most of the ingredients dropped to the bottom, the balance is off. Price is over sixteen bucks, which is higher than most places around town. Flavor and value don’t really match up. Score: 5 out of 10.

Service: Friendly chat, quick and simple service. Score: 5 out of 10.

Atmosphere: Not really much of a vibe here, no special Mexican touch or anything like that. Next to the order counter there’s this wide staircase where you can sit and look out at cars, a car wash, and some trees. Kinda dirty overall, but the outdoor tables with umbrellas are still a nice spot to chill. Score: 7 out of 10.

The environment smells of pure raw human urine, there’s puddles of urine and used toilet paper right outside the business. Poor customer service. My order was wrong, along with another 5 other people that returned to the window to complain and inform them their order was wrong. Its overpriced. About $30 for and Aguachile with Avocado. The Avocado I paid for was not in my order. The Aguachile had a bad spoiled spur taste, and no spice, no Chile flavor. I waited over 30 minutes for my order only to be incorrect and missing what extra $$$ I paid for. This place has gone to hell! I do not recommend. Hard pass!

When in SD don’t skip the higher area of India st known as the international restaurants row, and Karina’s will be there, so good, we eat the ahi tuna tostada and the shrimp, octopus something else taco. The Jamaica water was not so great thought. Maybe because we got there like 20 min before closing time and it was very diluted, but the rest was very good. We will be back.

Every time I’m in San Diego, this place is my first stop. it’s conveniently located just down the street from the airport. You can’t go wrong with their traditional fish tacos, which are always spot-on. This time, I tried their surf and turf tacos for the first time, and they were excellent, Highly recommend this spot. It might be a little busy, but it’s absolutely worth it. Great food, great location definitely a must visit.

Literally some of the best food my family and I have ever had. We were visiting San Diego and looking for a place that served micheladas – thankfully it led us here!! We were pleased with the unique seating arrangement and atmosphere, and when we tried the food, we lost our minds. The ahí tuna tostada was especially good – the tuna was so fresh, taste was perfectly balanced, and the tostada itself was unlike any I have ever tried, so crispy and flaky yet strong enough to hold the heavy serving of fish on top. We will definitely be visiting San Diego again, just to come to Karina’s!!

I just read a 1 review and could not disagree more. Subtracting 1 star since the place is a bit noise (you could sit inside I guess) and service took a bit longer than expected. It was well worth the wait tho. We had the aquachile, shrimp cocktail and fish tacos. All were great but the tacos might be what I would recommend the most. Highly recommended; we are coming back soon!

There is absolutely nothing to complain about when it comes to the food at this little takeout taco joint. Both the bacon-wrapped shrimp taco and the Marlín taco (smoked fish and cheese) are outrageously good, and the Ceviche Karina is in a delightful green chile sauce. There’s a fair amount of outdoor seating, and the only issue is the breeze, which will blow your napkins everywhere. Otherwise, this is a great meal.

Sun-filled balcony, jarritos, and fresh ceviche, does it get any better? I ordered Mexican style ceviche tostada and two fried fish tacos, both perfect. If your uber driver tells you about a place, it usually won’t disappoint.

I ordered delivery from Karina’s and everything was delicious. The ceviche plate and spicy crispy shrimp were fresh and amazing. The tacos were all solid, with the fish tacos being my favorite. The surf and turf, bacon-wrapped shrimp, rib eye, lobster tacos, and ahi poke tostada were great. Overall, a good experience, and I’d recommend giving it a try.

We had to drop off a hire car at San Diego airport, and dinner was a few hours away so, when we put petrol in the car and noticed a deli across the road, we decided to check it out. My wife wasn’t that impressed by the deli but we realised we were on “International Restaurant Row”, so we had a quick look at what was available, and decided to give Karina’s a go. We had the surf and turf fajita and a cheese quesadilla. Both were excellent – whoever was in the kitchen definitely knew what the were doing – and the combination of tasty rib eye steak and king prawns worked really well. If I didn’t live >5,000 miles away, I’d definitely be a regular!
