We stopped in for dinner between a broadway show and an opera at the Lincoln center, and Kare Thai is located perfectly between the two locations. The interior is small, clean, and intimate, with gorgeous mirrors along one wall and a very clean restroom. The woman working (we forgot to get her name) was so kind and attentive— her service was really fantastic! We ordered the tom yum noodle soup (pictured in the review) and steak fried rice. Our food came very quickly, and both dishes were absolutely flavorful and delicious! The portions were pretty big as well. I think they changed their happy hour from it says online: I think it’s glasses of wine for $10 and 2 beers for $12 or something. We were drinking Sapporo’s, and the incredible woman who was working brought us some Thai beers to try, which were delicious! Really wish I lived in Hell’s Kitchen so I could come back. In all, it was a fantastic experience.

There are fancier spots for Thai in the neighborhood but for me this low-key spot is the best bang for your buck for a regular meal.

I’m addicted to the Kao Soi Grilled Chicken, it’s the pinnacle of comfort food.

I love this place. Tasty, large amount, and the lady works here is so nice, she helped us changed bottle water for 3 times. And she is very patient and listened to our requests for take out boxes. We literally couldn’t finish all the food at the end. And we love the food here, gonna do take out for our breakfast tomorrow.

⭐ A Thai Culinary Revelation at Kare Thai
My second review to Kare Thai restaurant. Consistent flavor and very authentic. ❤️
There are restaurants that serve food, and then there are those rare establishments that offer transcendent culinary experiences. Kare Thai firmly belongs in the latter category, providing an authentic journey through the vibrant flavors of Thailand that left this critic utterly captivated.

My evening began with their spicy papaya salad (Som Tum), a dish that exemplifies the perfect balance of Thai cuisine. The crisp, fresh papaya strands were tossed in a dressing that danced between tangy lime, savory fish sauce, and a heat that built gradually with each bite. The textural contrast of crunchy peanuts against the tender papaya created a symphony of sensations that awakened every taste bud.

The spicy drunken noodles (Pad Kee Mao) arrived steaming hot, with wide rice noodles glistening in an aromatic sauce. Each forkful delivered a complex harmony of Thai basil, garlic, and chili that managed to be bold without overwhelming the palate. The proteins were cooked to perfection, tender and infused with the sauce’s intoxicating flavors.

To temper the glorious heat of these dishes, a generous jug of Thai iced tea provided sweet relief. The creamy, amber-colored beverage with its distinctive blend of spiced tea and condensed milk complemented the meal beautifully, creating a cooling counterpoint to the spice-forward dishes.

What truly elevates Kare Thai beyond merely excellent food is the genuine hospitality. The host, Kay, guided my culinary journey with remarkable knowledge and attentiveness. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her passion for sharing authentic Thai cuisine was evident in every interaction.

She took time to explain traditional preparation methods and regional variations, adding depth to an already exceptional dining experience.

Before my visit to Kare Thai, I had enjoyed Thai food; now, I am a believer in what authentic Thai cuisine can truly be. The careful attention to balance, the masterful layering of flavors, and the obvious respect for tradition have set a new standard in my culinary expectations.

For anyone seeking an unforgettable Thai dining experience, Kare Thai is not merely recommended—it’s essential. Whether you’re a Thai cuisine aficionado or a curious newcomer, this gem promises to delight, surprise, and ultimately convert you to the transcendent possibilities of truly authentic Thai food restaurant that has been at this location for 12 years.

Kare Thai food deserves 10 ⭐.

We are here right before watching The Daily Show. They have multiple vegan options (all the curries are vegan). I had the Peanut Curry which came with a side of rice. It was really yummy and I thought the portion size was perfect. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly as well. I recommend eating here!!

Wonder around this area with my friend and we decided to check Kare Thai out. The restaurant is small, good for a group of 4 or less. The hostess was really sweet and was attentive to us. For appetizer we did the popcorn shrimp and the dumplings. The dumplings were really good, the popcorn shrimp was good as well, but I felt like it should’ve had a bit lesser breading. For entree I had the Duck Noodle Soup and it was amazing. The duck and noodles were delicious as well as the broth. It was smooth and not salty. I definitely would recommend this soup. Overall, great food and experience, a small hidden gem away from the nearby touristy area. I also highly recommend the thai ice tea.
