Been coming here since 2021 and out of every ramen shop in the area this has been my favorite and I can’t think of other restaurants topping Kappo Nara! The servers are very friendly and accommodating. The only downside is that if you come at a busy time, the wait for food might be longer than usual. Other than that I love this place!

Also included pictures of my usual! The portion looks big on the ramen cuz I ordered extra lol!

I used to love this place but the food has gone downhill.. im so disappointed and hate to throw out food but the rice was reheated and it was still cold..the ramen had a weird stinky smell. Kappo Nara has lost their magic.. so sad.

I enjoyed everything here! I got the fried chicken ramen and the chicken curry! I removed the fried chicken from my ramen just because I didn’t want it to get soggy. I also enjoyed my first ever strawberry milk tea with tapioca!

Our server was friendly and efficient for the most part. We had ordered 3 appetizers and only received 2. The server made sure the unserved item was removed from the bill. They offer a fair amount of vegetarian items including a ramen that can be made vegan.

I ordered the vegetarian ramen medium spicy it was mild. The vegetarian dumplings and edamame were standard at best.

Plenty of seating for large or small groups. Very casual dining.

Very decently priced compared to other ramen places in VB! I like going here with friends because the price is reasonable, and we can also order boba tea at Ninja Tea! I also love that you can take polaroid photos if you dine in. The polaroid photos definitely make the restaurant much cozier and inviting. As for food, they do have a good selection of rice and ramen dishes, and the appetizers’ choices are also decently diverse. The ramen broth is rather salty, however. The ramen would taste just fine if the salt level is reduced (umami vs saltiness are two very different things). The katsu can be a bit dried at times – I think this is probably because the meat cut is thinner than usual katsu cuts, so the meat gets dried out when fried. Lastly, the steamed rice can taste mildly soggy at times (maybe because it’s cooked in big batches).

First & definitely wont be our last time here! This place is like a hole in the wall, like I’m back in Japan again. I liked how small & personable it was.

Not the best quality pics lol but we were too excited to eat! We ordered chicken katsu curry and the sauce was perfectly sweet & creamy like in Japan. My husband really enjoyed the chicken katsu! I had a veryyy large bowl of shoyu ramen that I shared with my kids, and they loved the noodles and broth. I wish I asked for pork belly though, I think mine came with chasu? I don’t remember…
Not pictured: karaage (literally THE best one I’ve had here in the states, besides Vegas), & some boba teas

Overall, we really enjoyed this place. We liked how kid friendly it was, the staff were very patient & welcoming. The prices were also very reasonable, which we liked. I think we spent under $70 for everything.

Kappo Nara Ramen in Virginia Beach has been a favorite of ours for over a decade and remains the closest thing to authentic ramen we’ve found in the area. Every visit reminds us of our trips to Japan, from the atmosphere to the depth and balance of the flavors. Their tonkotsu ramen is especially outstanding — rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful without being overwhelming, with perfectly cooked noodles and thoughtful toppings. The consistency and authenticity keep us coming back year after year. If you’re looking for truly authentic ramen in Virginia Beach, this is the place.

Best ramen I’ve had in Virginia. Stumbled upon on accident and was very impressed. Short wait time for such a popular authentic spot. Decent prices and great atmosphere.

We had a great time. Stayed for about an hour and a half. Several families came with small children. They seem to have enjoyed the food. The server was right on point. He approached the table numerous times to ensure we had what we needed or desired anything else.
