The name of the restaurant comes from the traditional creole art of weaving coconut leaves into shopping baskets and hats. Kapatya was one of the most useful tools in Seychelles – our mothers and grandmothers would always be on the move with a kapatya basket, be it for shopping or to carry their goodies to the beach for a picnic with the family. We at Kapatya Restaurant want to honor this tradition and memories in the modern era, by providing a space for locals and international guests to enjoy a family oriented restaurant that treasures its Creole culture through the dishes and drinks we make.

One point to add. Certain dishes are insanely EXPENSIVE!! I’ve no idea why some dishes are so expensive
2nd point it’s hard to eat as flies swarm you the moment foods served
For starters I had a selection of fried nibbles. All very good. No notes.
I had the chicken biryani for mains and my husband had the fish curry. My biryani was flavorful, tasty and I loved it. The side salad was a bit sad but no matter.
For dessert I had the coconut crème brulee. The coconut was extremely mild but I loved it overall.
Not sure when people start having dinner in Seychelles but almost everywhere we’ve been for dinner we’d be the first on the floor and for some time. So it didn’t really add to the atmosphere generally. Or maybe it’s because the layout of the restaurant is quite large and lacks “warmth”.
Seychelles cuisine seems to be pretty consistent throughout. You’re bound to find a smoked fish salad, an octopus curry and ice cream scoops, so whether you go to Kapatya or across the street, I don’t think it’ll make a difference
Their staff is really friendly and welcoming and the restaurant ambiance was great looking at the main road.
