I called to try to make a reservation and they said they only take walk ins at that time , we get there and they asked if we had a reservation, so I was kinda annoyed by that , overall the wait was roughly around 30/40 minutes (it was very busy ) . While we were waiting the door would blow open (it was cold and raining ) and everyone in the waiting area would freeze . Once we were sat we still felt the freezing air (everyone at our table was complaining about how cold it was )

I’d give this place no stars if I could! What a disgusting, gross, and disappointing restaurant! The seats are sticky and covered in something that looks like grease, the soup is water no flavor, the food is disgusting, the white sauce is runny like milk and sour, and the whole restaurant is so hot because there is no AC! The bar is falling apart and nothing that anyone in our party got was good. The grill was dirty the cook had to try to clean it twice before cooking it was just unsettling. This was the worst Japanese food I’ve ever had and in a trashy restaurant. Everyone got sick from this food and my kids wouldn’t even eat it thank goodness that was a blessing in disguise…. Just save your time and money and your toilet! Go to Arigotos and thank me later!!!!

Kanpai is a very popular restaurant in Winston Salem. Prepare for a wait on the weekend. We made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday night and still ended up waiting quite a bit, but the service is great and the entire family loves eating here. Plus, we always come away with leftovers!

AMAZING experience. We had my daughter’s 16th birthday party dinner here. With fourteen of us, they created an atmosphere that was seamless in execution. Very friendly and helpful when I called to make a reservation, no waiting after we arrived, delicious food, and excellent service from Ariel made this experience even nicer than we could imagine. THANK YOU for giving our family a memory that we will cherish for years to come. We will be back!

It was my wife’s birthday and she wanted Arigato, we got turned away bc they wouldn’t take walk ins so we found Kanpai and it hands down beats Arigato. Our chef (Yo) was very energetic and kept my wife, two girls and I laughing the whole time! Will definitely be back!

The food was delicious, but the atmosphere looked like it could benefit from a renovation. The chairs in the lobby were so stained and dirty looking we were concerned about sitting on a couple of them. The food and the portions were good though. We all will be able to eat another meal from our leftovers.

It was very nice. Food was excellent and our waiter was fantastic. He was friendly and on the ball at all times. We were disappointed in our Chef. He did not say more than a few words and did not interact with us at all. However, the other Chefs were funny and interacted with guests at their grills. We go to Hibachi for the entertainment as well as the food. Overall, it was good and we will certainly return again.

There is no AC so it is extremely hot inside. I was sweating so much I couldn’t even eat my food comfortably, took majority to go. Chef was great and food was good but would not go back again.
