Service was no good at all. I got slacked on everything on my plate. The left going right to left, and as he made his way around the table with me sitting at the corner, the portions tampered down. We also had a reservation for 4 people set at 8pm. We sat down around 8:20pm, and food was not cooked for an hour. One and done.

Came in without a reservation and didn’t have to wait. Got to share a table with a small family and it was perfectly fine because it’s a large area. Speaking of large the portions wow. The waitress was sweet and on top of things, the chef was friendly and the food was soooo good. Will be coming back despite how much I hate city driving lol

Don’t eat here. Me and a friend went here for there birthday on 2/13/26 We both were throwing up all night and have been sick since from the chicken. Undercooked man rushed the food and right after he plated our plates with the chicken they were boxing up our food and bringing out plates to set the table . Took our rushed out Togo plates and finished our food at home. Got extremely sick. Wouldn’t recommend here. Didn’t even check temperatures of food before serving.

I called to try to make a reservation and they said they only take walk ins at that time , we get there and they asked if we had a reservation, so I was kinda annoyed by that , overall the wait was roughly around 30/40 minutes (it was very busy ) . While we were waiting the door would blow open (it was cold and raining ) and everyone in the waiting area would freeze . Once we were sat we still felt the freezing air (everyone at our table was complaining about how cold it was )
Besides that the only thing else I can say is that the portion of chicken the chef gave my husband ( chicken was split into 3 servings ) was very small compared to mine and the other gentleman at our table (I provided a picture so you could see the comparison) the ranch for my salad was not good , it wasn’t homemade ranch it , tasted like hidden valley but everything else was delicious, the steak was super tender and cooked exactly how I wanted (medium rare ) , the sauces provided were also very yummy and paired great with everything we ordered . Overall the experience was nice , the chef wasn’t very entertaining but we honestly didn’t mind bc we just wanted to eat . For my husband and I our two meals and two drinks we paid 67$ not including tip . We have SO MUCH leftovers so it’s definitely worth the money and experience. Will be returning .

Kanpai is a very popular restaurant in Winston Salem. Prepare for a wait on the weekend. We made a reservation for 7 on a Saturday night and still ended up waiting quite a bit, but the service is great and the entire family loves eating here. Plus, we always come away with leftovers!
Saturday is busy, therefore very loud, so be prepared for that as well. Each table seats eight. It’s fun to talk with the random people seated at your table and the chef is usually very engaging.
We’ve been coming here for roughly 20 years and it remains a favorite.

AMAZING experience. We had my daughter’s 16th birthday party dinner here. With fourteen of us, they created an atmosphere that was seamless in execution. Very friendly and helpful when I called to make a reservation, no waiting after we arrived, delicious food, and excellent service from Ariel made this experience even nicer than we could imagine. THANK YOU for giving our family a memory that we will cherish for years to come. We will be back!

Our clearly at least 40 year old short waiter kept flirting with the very underage girls at the end of the table, so much so that the mom asked for to go boxes so they could leave. The lady to my left with her 12 year old didn’t even leave a tip, and she said she was a regular coming at least once a week. Our chef was new and burnt practically everything, but he was very nice. We got there at 6:30 and didn’t leave til 9:45. I usually love this restaurant, but not tonight.

Honestly the experience was beyond ridiculous, my son & I went on a Monday evening, We sat down at the table at 6:15pm we did not receive drinks until 6:30pm & then from there the waitress was serving everything & everyone one but our table, our order was taken at 7:00pm we did not receive soup or salads until 7:25,
(1 hour & 10 mins for soup & salad like be for real??)
(mind you at this point I witnessed two tables be seated and they got drinks soups/salads and the cook was there in under 30 mins)
and eventually they proceeded to cook at 7:45, though it may have been a little busy, but the timing for everything was ridiculous, & if the excuse is “the waitress was busy” then maybe yall shouldn’t give someone more tables then they can handle,
1 hour & 45 mins it took for us to eat, I will definitely not be returning.
