We finally tried Kanpai Izakaya & Ramen, and we genuinely loved everything we ordered. The hamachi chili, miso salmon, wagyu roll, gyoza, and edamame were all fresh, beautifully plated, and full of flavor nothing missed.
The vibe is gorgeous, moody lighting, cherry blossoms, cozy but elevated. It feels special without trying too hard, which makes it perfect for date night. The staff was kind and welcoming, which always makes a big difference.
If you haven’t been yet, they’re relatively new to Mansfield and absolutely worth a visit. In front of Market Street. We’ll definitely be back.
It’s a little small, this wasn’t a new build so what they have done with the limited space is still spacious with a nice ambiance. Lighting is great, you’re not elbow to elbow with the next table, & decor is beautiful.
Tonkotsu Ramen – springy noodles with flavorful broth, egg is on point, & portion size is great.
Chashu Pork Belly Bao – yes, just like the chasu in the ramen it’s tender & cooked perfectly.
Wagyu Beef Skewers – these were good, probably not my favorite but it could be in comparison that everything else was great.
Fatty Salmon – my favorite, I get this at whatever restaurant I go to when the opportunity is there but this is one of the best I’ve had. I will say the rice didn’t hold together as well, but it didn’t take away from the taste.
The menu is small (one page front & back only) but that’s not an issue if you are looking for a large variety. There is enough variety with a wonderfully curated menu where you will find something you enjoy.
The restaurant was clean. Staff service was excellent as well. It was halfway full when we got there & got busier, but the service remained consistent with everyone being so friendly. Prices are good, at the time they even had 20% off most of their menu to what I would already consider fair prices. Visit them if you can!
Bonus: the music made me feel like I was back in Tokyo which was so fun & nostalgic. Go try it!!
The service and atmosphere are spectacular. Knowing this was from the Yujo team had me and my fiancee excited.
We ordered quite a few things and overall the food was all top notch, but I have to give it low marks.
The quality is there. But some dishes are genuinely not worth the price point.
Rice bowls – $18-24 and it’s only about half a cup of rice and 2 pieces of protein. I was genuinely shocked when this arrived at the table. The item is priced as if it was an entree, but it’s barely an appetizer.
Yakitori – $9-25 for a single skewer. Nearly everywhere else I’ve had yakitori, it’s been $2-5 a skewer. I had assumed this came with 2 skewers per order since the pricing would be in line with everywhere else I’ve been, but to my disappointment, it’s only a singular skewer.
The ramen is priced a little above average but the quality is worth it.
The sushi as well.
