Date night – I don’t post restaurant reviews very often… but I had to share this one.

We finally tried Kanpai Izakaya & Ramen, and we genuinely loved everything we ordered. The hamachi chili, miso salmon, wagyu roll, gyoza, and edamame were all fresh, beautifully plated, and full of flavor nothing missed.

The vibe is gorgeous, moody lighting, cherry blossoms, cozy but elevated. It feels special without trying too hard, which makes it perfect for date night. The staff was kind and welcoming, which always makes a big difference.

If you haven’t been yet, they’re relatively new to Mansfield and absolutely worth a visit. In front of Market Street. We’ll definitely be back.

Lots of things are popping up in the area & there is a lot of competition, if it’s not great then there are other ramen restaurants in the area if you don’t want to come back. But, we’ll be back! Kanpai is a win!

It’s a little small, this wasn’t a new build so what they have done with the limited space is still spacious with a nice ambiance. Lighting is great, you’re not elbow to elbow with the next table, & decor is beautiful.

Tonkotsu Ramen – springy noodles with flavorful broth, egg is on point, & portion size is great.

Chashu Pork Belly Bao – yes, just like the chasu in the ramen it’s tender & cooked perfectly.

Wagyu Beef Skewers – these were good, probably not my favorite but it could be in comparison that everything else was great.

Fatty Salmon – my favorite, I get this at whatever restaurant I go to when the opportunity is there but this is one of the best I’ve had. I will say the rice didn’t hold together as well, but it didn’t take away from the taste.

The menu is small (one page front & back only) but that’s not an issue if you are looking for a large variety. There is enough variety with a wonderfully curated menu where you will find something you enjoy.

The restaurant was clean. Staff service was excellent as well. It was halfway full when we got there & got busier, but the service remained consistent with everyone being so friendly. Prices are good, at the time they even had 20% off most of their menu to what I would already consider fair prices. Visit them if you can!

Truly excellent restaurant! Decor is gorgeous and fun without being overwhelming, service has always been top tier all 4 times we’ve visited! Tonkatsu ramen is phenomenal, sushi is so so fresh, and appetizers are such a quick, delicious, hit! The broth in the tonkatsu is super rich and satisfying, and the chashu has a beautiful texture (I won’t eat it because of the fatty/chewy/unrendered texture at most ramen places). The low wait times on food is also remarkable.

I had the chance to try the food here and was quite satisfied with the experience. The hot dishes were prepared very meticulously; the fried parts were crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside, and the sauce was rich and authentically Japanese, not greasy at all. The presentation was neat and appetizing. The staff were very friendly, asking just the right number of questions, bringing out the food quickly, and always paying attention to whether customers needed anything else. The atmosphere was quiet, perfect for relaxing and enjoying a meal. A true Japanese restaurant, focusing on food quality rather than flashy presentation .

This is my second time coming back and let me just say, everything was absolutely INCREDIBLE both times. My first visit was before they did their afternoon closing so it was more calm but the service was impeccable and everything was delicious. My second visit was during dinner and it was a full house but we got seated fairly quickly and once again, service and food was amazing!! 10/10 will forever and always recommend!! Don’t wait, just go enjoy yummy Japanese food!

Bonus: the music made me feel like I was back in Tokyo which was so fun & nostalgic. Go try it!!

UPDATE: In response to the restaurant replying, I understand the idea of quality over quantity, but when you’re charging over 3x the price that other places are charging, I’d want a LITTLE bit more than a quarter serving of food. Leaving satisfied and full is just as important as having a great experience, but I also don’t want to spend almost $100 a person just to get full.

The service and atmosphere are spectacular. Knowing this was from the Yujo team had me and my fiancee excited.

We ordered quite a few things and overall the food was all top notch, but I have to give it low marks.

The quality is there. But some dishes are genuinely not worth the price point.

Rice bowls – $18-24 and it’s only about half a cup of rice and 2 pieces of protein. I was genuinely shocked when this arrived at the table. The item is priced as if it was an entree, but it’s barely an appetizer.

Yakitori – $9-25 for a single skewer. Nearly everywhere else I’ve had yakitori, it’s been $2-5 a skewer. I had assumed this came with 2 skewers per order since the pricing would be in line with everywhere else I’ve been, but to my disappointment, it’s only a singular skewer.

The ramen is priced a little above average but the quality is worth it.

The sushi as well.

This is definitely a hidden gem. Everything we ordered was delicious. Tried a little of everything and it did not disappoint. Sushi was fresh and they offer cuts of fish that not all places do such as churro, otoro, and gindara. The beef tongue and wagyu skewers were really good of their grill menu. The mandaiko creamy udon was also delicious!!! Will be back to try other items like ramen and other sushi. Inside is decorated really nice and it’s a cozy place. Service was 10/10. Everyone was helpful and nice. Water stayed filled. A must try in the area forsure.

The restaurant’s ambiance is tranquil and refined, perfectly embodying the spirit of traditional Japanese cuisine. The dishes are neatly presented with harmonious colors; the thin, crispy fried crust enhances the natural sweetness of the seafood inside. The dipping sauces are skillfully balanced, not overpowering but complementing the flavors of the dishes. A refined and very satisfying dining experience !

The dishes were neatly presented, the ingredients were fresh, and they retained their natural flavors. The cucumber was crisp, the sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the overall taste was harmonious without being overpowering. I was particularly reassured by the hygiene; everything, from the food to the utensils, was clean and well-maintained. A gentle yet high-quality Japanese culinary experience !!
