I visited earlier today before heading back home and was pleasantly surprised at how nice this restaurant was. It felt very upscale. There was no wait as we got there before the dinner crowd. Our server Stanley was very attentive and friendly. I had the teriyaki chicken and it was delicious. The portion was generous and the ingredients were very fresh. My daughter had the tuna salad and gyoza. We were in College Station for a basketball game so I’m not sure when we will return, but if we do, we are most definitely coming back here! Pricing was fair and the food presentation was excellent.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Kanji Sushi last night. It was raining when we arrived, and the manager kindly let me in through a locked side door – a small gesture that immediately set the tone for the evening.

Our waitress, Haley, was fantastic : friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful with food recommendations.

The food was perfect – the Citrus Tuna & Avocado salad was fresh and bright, Chef Tai’s Spicy Tuna Roll had just the right kick, and the nigiri was beautifully prepared.

From thoughtful service to great food and ambiance, this place gets it right, highly recommend – we will be back.

This place is a true high-end sushi spot—you absolutely need to plan ahead and secure a reservation, as it books up quickly. The seafood is impeccably fresh and bursting with flavor, and the green tea crème brûlée is out-of-this-world delicious. It’s the perfect creamy, caramelized finish to an amazing meal!

The food was so flavorful. I was watching the chef and sous chefs plate the dishes and you could just tell they put their whole heart into what they do. The servers were super sweet, friendly and easy to talk to. Great vibes all around.

We have been 3 times so far and have loved every experience! The staff are amazing (Ariana and David were great and really helped explain the menu with some awesome recommendations). Everything we’ve had has been great but we really like the King Kong and tropical roles. This place has set the bar for other restaurants for us and we can’t wait to make our way through the full menu! Absolute mastery of the food and layers of flavor, it is so good and worth the price!

We went for lunch on a weekday and it was very empty. The tempura was delicious and well executed. The sushi rolls tasted fresh and looked beautiful, but the flavors were a bit much and muddled. We got the sashimi special, bream. It was good but not $18 for 2 thin slices of sashimi good. I got the matcha creme brulee and it was absolutely amazing. I could eat that all day!! Our server was very nice and I would have given her a higher rating and tip but she disappeared in the back along with almost all the staff for a very long time at one point in the meal, so that was a little frustrating.

Overall the food and atmosphere was very nice and I would return and recommend.

This has become one of my favorite spots in Bryan. From the moment I walked in, everything just felt right — the vibe, the people, the energy. The place is clean, modern, and comfortable, and the staff makes you feel welcome from the start. They are friendly, professional, and really seem to care about giving you a great experience.

The food is next level. Every roll and dish tastes incredibly fresh, and you can tell there is real pride and creativity in how everything is prepared. The sashimi melts in your mouth, the rolls are packed with flavor, and the presentation is always spot on. It is rare to find a place where every visit feels this consistent, but this one absolutely nails it.

What I love most is that it never feels rushed. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal while knowing you are getting some of the best sushi around. Perfect place to go if its a date night, a family dinner, or just a solo stop after a long day.

Easily one of the best dining experiences in Bryan College Station. Looking forward to the next visit!

Kanji is an excellent place for an upscale Japanese dinner in Bryan/College Station!

Service is great! The staff is very friendly and attentive—they will make helpful recommendations for food and drink if you need them.

Food is outstanding. The fish is perfectly prepared and tastes great. Sashimi/nigiri looks fresh and high quality. Don’t miss the madai! Both raw and cooked dishes have a ton of flavor.

The drink list is creative. There are several nice sake bottles to choose from, as well.

We always plan a visit to Kanji when we see our family in College Station! Can’t wait to go back.

Food tasted great! Hot sake is interesting and definitely an acquired taste. Seven spice ahi tuna was crispy and flavorful. The chicken teriyaki was full of flavor yet not grease thanks to the pickled onion. Crème brûlée was amazing, light, creamy with a crunchy cover! Waitress was busy but efficient and friendly.
One recommendation is to fix the tables. They’re not very stable or sturdy and therefore not up to bar for the fine dining.
