We were fortunate to stumble upon this gorgeous taverna. It had such romantic vibes to it at the back garden and we could sit a bit privately together under a warm light and beautiful olive tree. The staff was welcoming even though we arrived after 22.00, this was not a problem at all. The food was excellent and the giant beans is very recommended to try as a starter (!!). The waitresses were so lovely and they gave us excellent service. One even apologized for interupting us, which was not a burden at all! Extra mention to the lady in glasses who was such a cute and welcoming woman. Thank you for this lovely night.

Incredible food in a lovely family-run taverna (the best we’ve had on our 2 week trip across both Ithaki and Kefalonia!)

The owner, Aphrodite, and all of the staff are so kind and attentive. You can sit in a beautiful garden out the back, or enjoy sitting on the front porch in the heart of Stavros, a sweet local town.

The mushroom risotto is the best we’ve ever eaten (even compared to Italy). We also really enjoyed the crunchy pita bread, savoro fish, seared tuna steak, and gigantic beans – although everything really is delicious.

We’ve been twice and will keep coming back!

We had such a great experience at Kanenas Taverna. We sat in the garden area in the back which provided shade and a breeze. The food was in our top 3 of our three weeks in the Ionian Islands. You can tell they have a chef who cares about the meals they prepare. They also had a good selection of beer and wine. We liked a dish so much we asked about the recipe and learned they have cooking classes you could sign up for. We will for sure be doing this our next time in Ithaca. If you are visiting Odyssey Palace or Homers school this is a great place to stop for lunch or dinner!

Beautiful and authentic Greek home-style cooking. There are a decent amount of vegan options, and they’re all delicious. Our favourites were the giant beans in tomato sauce, split pea dip and crispy pita bread. Wash it all down with the homemade lemonade.

Beautiful set up at the back of the restaurant where you can sit in a garden under the grapevines.

Had breakfast and dinner here. The food was amazing. The homemade pita savoury and sweet were both delicious.

Would highly recommend for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

This is a world class family run restaurant where the husband and wife partake in EVERYTHING.. Unlike so many Greek restaurants, the 2 are younger , well trained and versed in a newer milder upscale Greek cuisine with soul.
Easy access parking . Daily specials indoor and outdoor seating and a smile.
We had the grilled squid zucchini fritters, a marvelous salad and homemade white wine. Don’t forget the Tre Leche that was beyond imagination..

What a place! This is a delightful joy of a restaurant in the middle of a sweet charming mountain village. The lady that owns and runs the restaurant is full of passion of her ingredients and using local Greek produce. We started with her telling us of her specials and selected fillets of sardines stuffed with herbs, spit pea dip with mackerel and her homemade pitta and that was just for starter!! This followed by a beef
dish that melted in the mouth and a mince wrapped in cabbage in a lemon sauce.
This is a great restaurant which we will gladly return to and might even do the cooking course and lunch she has on offer.

Beautiful homely restaurant in Stavros Ithaki. Loved trying the appetisers of Haloumi, amazing Tarama, delicious dolmades. We ate local mountain goat stew which was the best we’ve tasted on the island. Aphrodite was a pleasure and so hospitable. A truly wonderful experience in the gorgeous garden & Greek music for atmosphere too. Thank you

We had a party here and Afrodite made everything happen smoothly. It was decorated well and the scene was gorgeous. The food was also perfect for an event our size and there were plenty of vegetarian dishes.
