First off, the food/experience is NOT worth their menu prices or their 18% gratuity!

I came to this restaurant for dinner with my girlfriend. Unfortunately, we read the reviews after arriving, where several people mentioned unsanitary conditions, including roaches. That should have been our first red flag.

We were seated quickly, but the service and food were extremely disappointing. When the waitress came to take our drink order, she stated they only had three fountain options. We both ordered Sprite, but she returned with only one and said they had run out. I then ordered a ginger ale, which was just as bad—completely flat and unpleasant. We eventually settled for sweet tea, which was also tasteless.

While ordering our food, I specifically asked if the chicken teriyaki and sushi combo came with rice. The waitress confirmed that it came with fried rice. However, when the food arrived, there was no rice at all. When I addressed this, I was told I could get rice on the side for an additional charge, which was unacceptable given what we were originally told.

The food itself lacked flavor, and the overall environment made it hard to enjoy our meal. Fruit flies were present throughout our dining experience, which was extremely off-putting. On top of that, we felt rushed the entire time. Our waitress came to the table every five minutes asking if we were okay, making it clear we were being hurried to eat and leave.

To make matters worse, the restaurant’s health grade was not posted anywhere. Had it been visible, we would not have chosen to eat here. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this restaurant.

I enjoyed my visit here! I stopped by as I was in the area and ordered the Salmon/NY Steak Hibachi with a Mango Margarita! Also the soup and salad was a good touch. I was by myself, but was among a good crowd! Everything was delicious and I enjoyed watching the food be prepared.

This was my go to hibachi spot for years and it’s usually. Came back for my first visit of the year and was very disappointed. We should’ve known something was up when we saw the smaller plates and empty place. The portions have shrunk and the quality has gone down, despite the prices remaining the same. Our chef didn’t entertain or do anything other cook. $130 for 3 people. A complete waste of experience and funds.

The new owner is super nice and the new look/ features are beautiful however sadly we won’t be back due to the lack of experience and quality.

I’ve been a longtime customer of Kampai and have always loved the atmosphere — especially sitting at the sushi bar. It used to be one of those places where you could meet new people, have great conversations, and truly enjoy the experience.

I recently visited after the remodel and was surprised to see the conveyor belt concept added to the sushi bar area. While I understand the intention to modernize, the change significantly altered the vibe that made this place special. It feels less personal and more transactional.

Additionally, some of my usual menu items looked and tasted different than before. The presentation and flavor weren’t what I’ve come to expect over the years.

My biggest concern is freshness with the conveyor belt system, especially during slower hours. Sushi quality and turnover are extremely important, and I hope management ensures strict timing and temperature standards.

I genuinely hope Kampai finds a balance between innovation and the original atmosphere that made so many of us loyal customers. The services was very nice though.

We visited this hibachi restaurant and nothing was good. The food was awful. The calamari was frozen and tasted like it was fried in old grease. The shrimp tempura was rubbery and overcooked. My husband’s hibachi rice had a burnt, dirty grill taste. The ceiling was covered in dust, and I had to cover my drink with a napkin. On top of that, an 18% tip is automatically added to the bill. I don’t mind tipping automatically at certain places, but if you’re going to force a tip, at least make the experience worth it. Friendly service alone doesn’t make up for bad food and poor cleanliness. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This was my first time here since new management and I am unimpressed. The woman server with the brown eyes was very unprofessional. When I arrived she bypassed me to assist another guy who was waiting on his party and the guy at the sushi counter had to assure me that I would be helped momentarily. When she came back, she handed me a menu and told me to sit anywhere. I waited well over 20 minutes to receive any service and was bypassed yet again by her so much so that the sushi guy had to come and take my drink order. I finally got a different server who was nice but was still not as attentive as hoped. I was not the only customer receiving this partial treatment as it was so bad that multiple people were threatening to walk out for not being served. The woman and the sushi guy got into a loud argument as he was having to take her orders which prompted everyone who had not been helped (at least 5 separate parties) to begin talking about the service. Some had not been helped for 30 minutes or more. I also ordered nigiri which I never received. I hope the owner takes heed of this. For the experience that I had the mandatory gratuity was NOT deserved. I never write reviews but it was just that bad if I could give zero stars I would! I will not be back.

Came for the revolving sushi. The ambiance was nice, but the sushi selection didn’t pop. It was mostly just a variation of salmon and imitation crab with different decorative cuts. The main sushi menu doesn’t have much variety amoungst specialty rolls either.
The the server was nice but could tell she was still learning which I didn’t have a problem with. The issue came when an older lady I assume was a manager or owner came by to scream and yell at my date who didn’t know not to put the lid to the plate back on the revolving sushi. There’s a better way to interact with guest, especially when they are new to the experience.

I’ve got to say this was the worse hibachi food I’ve ordered and ate. The chicken was unseasoned, the sauce didn’t even taste like anything, the yum yum was also a disappointment. The only thing worth eating was the rice!
