Nicely decorated izakaya at City Market Plaza. We tried its signature lunch omakase with Wagyu beef, veggies, ramen, tofu and veggies. It also came with green tea and a mochi dessert. The meat was very good and veggies were fresh, but the beef based soup was the winner. The service was excellent and friendly. We will come back to try its other dishes. Note: this place is one of the only eateries that closes after lunch period is over and reopens later for dinner.

Update Dec 2025: it’s been a while since we’d dined here. W tried its Kamaaina special , which was chopped up ribeye with rice. It was tasty as other dishes we had here. The service was friendly as before. There’s a $20 AYCE hotpot deal that looked good as well. Maybe next time.

Came here for the $30 AYCE wagyu special they’re running until August 24. The set includes ribeye, roundeye wagyu, pork belly, bok choy, and wonbok, plus your choice of broth. We went with Beefy Wild, Seabura, and Miso. All three were delicious, but the miso was my favorite. The Seabura honestly tasted just like beef stew, so if you love beef stew, that one’s a must-try.

As for the meats, the roundeye wagyu was decent, but the ribeye was hands down the star of the show. It was super tender and flavorful. The restaurant itself gives you the vibe of being in Japan at an izakaya, and the Japanese music playing in the background really added to it. Made me miss Japan. Service was solid even though the place was packed, and the staff was working hard to keep up. Overall, a really great meal and definitely worth it for the promotion

I’m a regular customer here and come often because the food is amazing and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. I went there tonight and there was group of rude people saying they re going to leave a bad review and ruin the restaurant reputation @Yang Xu, but if you’re going to leave a review at least be honest about what happened. The person writing that review skipped everyone in the line waiting outside then sat themselves down at a table I’m guessing was reserved because they got asked to wait outside like everyone else. I got sat right before them and when they sat down the older man in the group threw a menu across the restaurant (in his review he said they gently moved it to another table, LIES), and demanded priority over everyone else who was also waiting patiently. The staff asked them to be mindful of the other guests and they started being disrespectful and giving attitude to the waitress who then refused service to them. That’s when they left saying they’re going to leave a bad review. The staff deserve credit, not unfair criticism !
You guys handled that situation amazingly!!!

Service with a smile but seems to be short of help. The lunch set menu at $14.99 seemed a little expensive. Unfortunately they don’t give enough for the money. The other dishes were expensive for what you get . Once was enough for my family and I. Left a little disappointed and still hungry. A lot of MSG is used in their preparation of the food and broth.

Finally checked this place off from my list. I had been to their ramen spot in Ward many times, and since they opened the hot pot place I had been wanting to try it. Finally did!

A hot pot set with good quality beef, fresh ingredients, delicious broth for lunch for $14.99 including mochi dessert and green tea? You can’t beat this. Also their kids menu included rice and fries presented in a cute fire truck, although I’d rather they put karaage chicken instead of sausage in there, so we ordered a separate order of karaage (was just ok). I also ordered their negitoro as a side. The toro itself was blended very well so it’s a very smooth texture with good flavor. I was a little surprised that they used Korean seaweed instead of Japanese nori though.

The service was friendly. Our server didn’t seem to speak English well but he’s nice and polite. The place had a very Japanese feel, wooden benches and dividers. It’s also cute to have a chalkboard for people to sign their names.

The food was overall delicious. For the quality of food, the prices were reasonable too. We would definitely come back if we want some shabu for lunch again!

I stumbled upon this place by chance and decided to give it a try. Wagyu Eye Round lunch set $9.99 was such a great deal! I ended up adding a side of rice—which turned out to be the perfect choice. Pouring the soup over the rice is a must!
The Chicken Nanban had no garlic and was incredibly tasty. This is absolutely a Japanese restaurant worth recommending.
Go treat yourself to something delicious!

Today I got to try the ribeye yakiniku teishku lunch special for $16.50 and it was a very good choice. It was a perfect set of lunch. Moreover, the service was friendly and efficient.

The food was absolutely delicious! I love everything and how it was in such a good price for hot pot. The service was quick and got seated in minutes. The server was sweet and checked on us to make sure how everything is. I saw how quick our food came out. The food was hot and fresh and the chicken was crispy. The soup was very flavorful. Each plating was so unique and beautiful. And how we didn’t had to wait that long for our service. I will definitely come back and highly recommend others to come.

An out of the way local spot that does outstanding hot pot. The soups are amazing, home made ramen noodles and top notch cuts of meat. Definitely go if you have a hankering for hot pot! And try the okonomiyaki fries. Delicious!

Update in response to the owner’s reply:

I am writing this update to address the owner’s response, which contains several inaccuracies. When we arrived, there was no staff present outside, and we did not notice a sign with instructions. Once a server informed us of the correct procedure, we immediately and politely exited the restaurant to wait as requested. We fully respect the rules of your establishment and were happy to comply once we were made aware of them.

The owner’s description of our behavior is a significant exaggeration. While my voice was raised slightly in response to being unfairly accused, we were by no means shouting or behaving aggressively. This is evidenced by the fact that most of the other customers in the restaurant did not even seem to notice a conflict was occurring. To characterize our behavior as a “harassment toward our staff” is a gross misrepresentation of the event.

After this upsetting incident, I took the time to read other negative reviews and unfortunately discovered a consistent pattern. It seems other customers have also experienced disproportionately harsh reactions from the owner, with some reviews suggesting a troubling lack of patience for the elderly or people with disabilities.

The United States is a place built on diversity and mutual empathy. While any business can set strict rules, customers should not be met with hostility and false accusations over a simple misunderstanding. We respect your rules, but we do not accept being treated with such disrespect.

——————————

My family and I were really looking forward to a nice dinner, but our experience was ruined by the owner’s incredibly rude and offensive behavior. My mom, trying to be helpful and make space on our crowded table, simply moved a menu to the empty table next to us. The owner immediately confronted us, saying that our behavior was very rude in US and told us to leave.

We have lived in the United States for 20 years, and this is absolutely not a part of American culture. There was nothing about my mother’s action that was inappropriate or rude in any sense. We were completely shocked and offended by the owner’s false accusation and her disrespectful demand that we leave.

This was a deeply upsetting experience, and I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. The owner’s behavior was completely out of line and incredibly offensive.
