The set up of this place is fantastic. From the waitresses in traditional outfits to the decor of the restaurant. The food was good although i wish the Katsu had a bit more curry sauce with it. Overall was a very yummy restaurant and we will be back.

This is a more fancy Japanese restaurant, mostly catered to lunch for folks working downtown. Reservation is highly recommended as it can get quite busy while the lunch hour is popular.

I was excited to give this place a chance. However, while i was late to my dinner, i felt like i got ripped off and the service was not good at all — half my order was forgotten about and it 5 dollars for a miso soup with no tofu and no spoon. 27 bucks for a plate of Salmon Sashimi (it was pretty but not 7-extra-dollars-for-garnishes-pretty). By contrast, i go to a place thats a 21/10piece order and less pretentious.

Been to this restaurant twice, the first time a few years ago and again recently on a trip to Vancouver. The food really does not disappoint here and it is some of the tastiest and most authentic Japanese food I’ve had in North America. It really does compare to Japanese food you can find in Japan itself.
This location has a storied history as the oldest Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people in Vancouver with almost 70 years of history. The staff are very polite and friendly. It is also evident that the chefs are well trained in their craft.
The sashimi and sushi we had was all prepared wonderfully and everything tasted great. One of my favorite dishes here that you won’t see much at other Japanese restaurants is their agadashi tofu starter. It is very unique and is a dish I’d definitely recommend getting if you come by.
Overall, if you like Japanese food and happen to be in Vancouver, this restaurant is a no brainer to go to for a bite. The prices are also very reasonable for the portion sizes.

Between a party of four, we shared the party platter. The miso soup was warm and flavorful; the garden salad was alright, but the ginger dressing was quite delicious; the sashimi and sushi platter were fresh, the takoyaki was hot, soft on the inside and crispy on the outside; the karaage was crispy and the sauce was tasty; all of the other dishes are not too remarkable; but the dessert was the best part of the meal.
Service was quick and friendly. Unfortunately, we came for the oyster special and there were no oysters left. Note that they do not do happy hour on public holidays.

My wife and I flew into Vancouver for her birthday for the weekend and were in the mood for sushi. Reviews for this place looked awesome and it was close to our hotel so we popped in around 7:30pm. The food and sake were INCREDIBLE, the staff absolutely and ridiculously attentive and SO nice, just as the other reviews said.
However, what none of the other reviews mentioned was that if you stick around past 10pm (which we did because we were loving everything so much) the restaurant part shuts down and they turn into a karaoke bar. It was the weekend and and were having fun so we decided to stay and see. What an absolute BLAST! It was quiet at first but my wife wanted to sing so the manager grabbed a mic and those two just started singing their hearts out. It wasn’t long before some locals came in and just made the night so much fun. All of the staff eventually joined in and it was a full blown party!
We haven’t had that much fun in a very long time. Everyone was SO nice, we made some new friends and again I cannot say enough about the staff and management of this place. Such an incredibly good time, fun atmosphere, delicious food!

Always delicious sushi. We splurged this time on some blue fin and oh my. If you can, absolutely do. Excellent service and kind staff, and regularly busy for a reason.
