Came here specifically for the Kohada and it was beyond expectations! Kohada is kinda hard to find around Bay Area and not many sushi restaurants have them. So I was super grateful to be able to find it here.
I rly enjoyed each piece of nigiri, from the sushi rice, to the amount of wasabi being applied to each piece, to the quality of the fish. Owner/taisho was from Japan, and knows the proper technique. Waiter was so nice!!! Gave us such good suggestions for picking the right fish. Owners told us fish are all overnight shipped from Japan and they will rotate based on seasonal availability to ensure the best quality, And I can def tell that from the taste!
The price is very reasonable as well. I had an amazing experience and will def come back.

Good access to the variety of seasonal fish straight from Japan. We had an ala carte nigiri selection from the daily menu behind the counter. Perfect experience where the fish is prepared well and sake just completed the satisfying meal.

We are so lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood. Jin is an incredible chef, overseeing daily fresh fish flown in from Japan, his omakase is comparable to the Michelin sushi spots in sf. … but for a neighborhood price with neighborhood feel.

Our favorite Berkeley sushi spot. Excellent quality fish and friendly service.
We’ve seen Michael Pollan here so it’s gotta be good.
They always have fresh fish and kinds that you don’t see elsewhere like Kinmedai and Ayu.

A small chirashi bowl with fewer than 10 pieces of sashimi costs $30, the same as the Unagi Don. While both dishes tasted good, they were on the expensive side. Salmon and Hirame nigiris are about the average.

After more than a year of lock-down, we celebrated social liberation with a fabulous sushi dinner sitting at the sushi bar watching the sushi master preparing “Omakase” (chief’s choice) assortment of the most delicious and beautifully presented succulent servings of fresh fish east of Japan, all while savoring glasses of fragrant chilled sake from a 1800 ml bottle of Konteki Tears of Dawn Daiginjo – absolutely heaven on earth! Not cheap, but worth every penny spent! In short, the best sushi in the Bay Area!

We felt very spoiled ordering the Omakase (chef’s choice) sashimi. We tried almost every special/seasonal fish they had- and some unique preparations and presentations. Jin took very good care of us. This place was impressive and amazing quality. The fish is flown in overnight from Japan. Very fresh and top quality! Other reviews say it’s the best sushi in the area- I would agree!! Order the omakase.

Was very unimpressed, especially after reading all the amazing reviews. Tried many things here, chriashi, katsu don, multiple rolls, etc, but all were just acceptable, but for above average prices. The fish was somewhat fresh, some pieces were definitely not as fresh as others. The katsu don was extremely disappointing with very dry meat. Wouldn’t really recommend, you can find better sushi / Japanese food elsewhere. Food and prices were only worth two stars, however service and hot towels added an extra star.
