Kama is a modern Indian restaurant located in Wicker Park, and the first thing that stands out is the ambience. The space is beautifully designed with an upscale, contemporary vibe that feels more like a lounge than a traditional Indian restaurant.

We tried a mix of appetizers and mains, including samosa, crispy chili potatoes, dal makhni, and paneer in achari sauce, along with naan and rice. The menu is fairly standard, and the flavors were what you’d generally expect—nothing bad, but nothing particularly memorable either.

When we visited, the restaurant was pretty empty and we were among the last diners, so service was quick, efficient, and attentive, which we appreciated.

Overall, Kama has a great setting and a lot of potential, but there’s definitely room for improvement when it comes to food preparation and depth of flavor. If the kitchen evolves to match the quality of the space, this could become a much stronger dining option in the neighborhood.

I went to Kama recently and everything hit. I got the spicy chicken tikka masala and it was super creamy with a solid kick, not overwhelming, just right. It came with white rice and paired perfectly with the garlic naan. The samosas were crispy on the outside and really soft on the inside and flavorful. the sauces they came with were perfect, one was a sweet jam (I think tamarind…) and the other reminded me of a chimichurri style sauce, I couldn’t choose which one is better.
The crispy chili potatoes were the star of the show. Exactly as described on the menu, crispy on the outside, soft and steamy on the inside, and tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce.
I also got a Kamarita and it was perfectly balanced with salt on the rim, rich yellow color, and spicy. The spice is strong at first but went down easy. I’ve ordered on Uber Eats many times after going in.

THIS ISNT INDIAN FOOD AND RESTAURANT WEEK IS NOT SAVING YOU $ – PLEASE READ
We went here for restaurant week. They charge you $45/pp, with a service charge AND 20% gratuitity. I calculated how much would the food be if I got it on a regular day and it saved me only about $5 ‍♂️. Service wasn’t worth that 20% gratuitity, WHICH ISNT SHOWN ON YOUR WEBSITE AS OF SUN, FEB 1 @ 6:21AM.

Now, the food. This ISN’T what Indian food is supposed to be. There’s absolutely no flavors besides sweet and sourness. We ordered the mussels, chicken malai, paneer tikka, shrimp holly, garlic naan, bourbon gulab jamun and kulfi.

We asked for food to be spicy and they just dumped a whole bunch of raw green chili…bruh, where’s the masala and red chili powder on a simmer? The host was DISRESPECTFUL, she called Gulab Jamun as ‘i love the donut balls soked in sugar”. Please train your employees to be a little aware of the menu and my culture. Won’t return here and will spread the word to my friends.

I recently visited Kama Bistro and ordered the Malai Kofta along with Garlic Naan, and I was truly impressed. The taste was delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The garlic naan was fresh and paired beautifully with the dish.

The service was excellent as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my visit. On top of that, the atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming, creating a great dining experience.

Overall, I had a wonderful time at Kama Bistro and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic and tasty Indian cuisine.

We had an incredible experience at Bistro in Wicker Park. The food and cocktails were absolutely amazing, but what truly made our visit unforgettable was our server, Mallory. She went above and beyond to make us feel special, even accommodating our request for an intimate table for a special occasion. Service like that is rare these days, and we truly appreciated the care and attention she gave us. Highly recommend!

Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food! Our server/bartender was also excellent. All dishes were perfectly timed, and they made sure to ask us about spice levels and other preferences. The cocktails are unique, and the mocktails were refreshing and tasty. The crispy chili potatoes and the lamb shank are a must!!

We went to try a refined Indian restaurant that was worth the hour and a half drive. The food was excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the crispy chili potatoes, Malai kofta, and paneer lemon Tadka.
The service was also a highlight, with the manager, David, making our experience wonderful.
Finally, we were so impressed that the desserts were worth “cheating” on our weekend diet for, specifically mentioning the seasonal kulfi. Overall, it was a meal that was well worth the trip.

We went here for dinner to celebrate Diwali. Loved the food and the cocktails here especially the apps chilli potatoes and the lemon chicken. For our mains we ordered the braised lamb in achari curry, the Goan fish curry and the paneer ravioli. All 3 mains were very tasty. We ended the night with desserts – both the chai tiramisu and the bourbon gulab jamun were amazing. The maraschino cherries with the tiramisu was a perfect counterbalance to the sweet gulab jamuns. Would definitely come back.

Recently visited Kama Restaurant for their Indian fusion food, and it was an amazing experience! The food and ambience were outstanding. The fusion of Indian flavors was done so well—every bite was delightful. Being Indian, I requested it to be super spicy, and they got the spice level just perfect!

Elevated Indian cuisine – exquisite.

Potatoes appetizers and samosas tasted gooood.

We had chicken pea and aubergine curry, chicken curry, naan and rice. All food tasted as good as it should be.

The bread pudding was the cherry on top.

Quick and friendly service.
