Wow! I had ordered online but went in for the first time. I knew the food was fantastic, but the service also blew me away. Great people working here who are helpful and kind.

This is one of my favorite places to each lunch, a great place to meet a friend, and the friendliest service you can imagine. I wish more restaurants focused on doing one thing well and being deeply authentic in vibe and presentation. After today’s visit I felt compelled to write a review because it sparked true joy. This is a meal that you end up thinking about – sometimes DIRECTLY after eating it. You should probably go – there’s bike parking directly outside, and it will be something you enjoy.

Unquestionably the best katsu curry I’ve ever had. I seriously had a Ratatouille moment eating this curry; making this their specialty was a brilliant move. The staff is friendly and the food arrives quickly (~5 minutes). The beef katsu curry with a Sapporo was exactly what I needed after a long hike.

We can probably agree, it’s getting harder and harder to find a cheap none fast-food cozy food.

Someday you just want something affordable but yet too oily or fat. I have eaten at Kale like 5 times. The quality , speed and price is exceptional. You can’t go wrong with this place and they won’t break your wallet.

Basic menu. Good katsu. Large portions-two of us full on one portion

A solid place for some quick comfort food. The menu is pretty simple which makes ordering very easy. I had the Katsu Kale Doria – based chicken katsu with a layer of melted cheese over the curry. I did enjoy the flavors of the curry mixed with the cheese and katsu.

I thought I was indifferent to curry. I was wrong.

This place is the most amazing Japanese curry I’ve ever eaten. The Doria is my favorite. I have been in their shop three times and the owner and staff are so nice and the atmosphere is great.

I order on postmates often (twice this week). My only complaint is that I wish they’d sell the ice cream via delivery too as well as their other tasty drinks.

Kale is a great little Japanese restaurant and is a short walk from the Saturday Market. The food here is simple and very tasty. They have 4 curry options, I tried two and was very impressed.

The restaurant is pretty small and very limited seating. Not very handicap accessible seating except for 1 or 2 seats.

When we went it was very busy and run solely by one worker and he did an excellent job and was very happy, helpful and friendly.

Easily the best chicken katsu I’ve ever had in my life. Sadly I was just visiting Portland, and I still think about this dish every time I fail to taste a chicken katsu as good as this top standard. Free water is offered but the space feels more like a cafeteria but it’s not a problem for me, I had the place to myself. Just be cautioned there is nothing fancy in here other than the food.

It is an amazing little place run by amazing people. The food was great and I didn’t have much complain about it. The only issues I had was very limited seating and it is really hard to share a table with a stranger though they say if is encouraged according to Japanese customs. They ran out of a few items while I was there and there was a wait if you wanted those items. I liked the place and food overall but I wish it was bigger and has better seating.
