I really wanted to like Kalbi House, but I don’t. I visited on Friday at 3 pm and there was no one else there. But there was also no service either. Employee was asleep across 2 chairs with his shoes off (see photo) and a roll of towels under his head for a pillow. We never had a refill on drinks or checked up on after food came to the table. I had to go ask for a check, and it certainly was not worth $48 for the 2 of us. I love championing local restaurants and exploring those gems in our community, but the food was mediocre at best. Honestly, this is a hole in the wall that needs to be patched up.

Starting out when I walked in, lady didn’t even know I walked in until one of the customers told her.

I usually go to this place and their raw marinated crab is super tasty. But when I went there today and ordered it, they only gave me one box instead of the usual two. The amount of crab was a lot less than before, and it didn’t taste as fresh either. I called them to ask why, and they said they have never given two boxes, only one box because crab is expensive. I’ve been there many times before, and they usually give a big portion that’s more than enough for two people. But this time, there was barely enough for one person.

Really good food and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. Large menu including some favorites that everyone likes (fried rice) if you have picky eaters in your group. The best thing we had was the kimchi pancakes. The meat was solid but not out of this world. Kind of a hole-in -the-wall feel.

I was skeptical about this place, but a well-trusted friend had me join her for dinner here one evening and I can’t stop going back! I have tried the Bulgogi and ribs, so delicious. The egg rolls and fried dumplings are fantastic too!

It’s our first time to eat here tonight. We ordered the bulgogi dinner plate, it already comes with banchan (sides) and cup of white rice and it tasted really great, the meat was very tender and flavorful. The portion is also great. Plus the service was really fast. We forgot to ask the name of our server but she have done such a great job despite being alone and has a few more tables other than us. We’ll definitely go back 🙂

The food here is authentic and tastes delicious. Employees are friendly and helpful. I love the little side dishes they give beforehand (love the fish cakes and kimchi) We tried the beef bulgogi, which was tender and delicious. The shrimp fried rice is very tasty. The spicy beef soup (yak gae jang) was flavorful and filling. My favorite were the Kal Bi which are marinated beef short ribs, these are FANTASTIC. The only disappointing thing is that the prices have REALLY increased, and the portions don’t seem as big as they were before. From what I recall, the plates I ordered were $6 more each than before. Next time I’ll definitely take advantage of their lunch specials.

Overall disappointing experience. Korean BBQ Chicken was extremely dry and bland. Fried dumplings felt like it came out of factory freezer before getting on my table. Kimchi felt like it came out of plastic can and way past due. I gave 2 stars for somewhat decent Kalbi Ribs and speedy service. Most likely won’t be coming back.

Been coming here for years! The food has been good but I feel like lately, their prices are a bit much. It’s usually empty whenever I come to eat and I feel that if they lowered their prices, more people would come. I paid $17 for a bowl of soup. I don’t think I’d be coming here anymore unfortunately.

I very rarely write reviews about the restaurants I eat at. But I feel the need to write a review kalbi house. We lived in ft bliss 7 years ago and used to frequent kalbi house. We loved going there. We recently just moved back to ft bliss and we were excited to take our daughter to grab some food from there. When we walked in, it had a weird smell as if they burned something and it was hot in there. We ordered yaki mandu. That was fine. (I’m sure it was store bought). We watched these two women walk in and sit down. The waitress ignored them for a good 15 mins and we watched them get up and walk out. She brought out our banchan. They were all lukewarm as if they had either been sitting out of the fridge or if they didn’t have a working fridge to put them in. The bean sprouts, potato’s, broccoli kimchi all had a rotten taste to them. My husband had the kalbi, my daughter had bulgogi and kimchi fried rice and I got spicy pork and kimchi. I took about 3 bites of my food and I got this strong pork flavor in my mouth that made me sick to my stomach. It tasted like a rotten pork flavor. My daughter took a few bites of her food and my husband somewhat ate his food. My husband asked for more water half way through eating and she never brought him more water. Our bill came out to $100. Quite expensive for food that we couldn’t even stomach. Me and my daughter packed up the food and politely took it but it’s in the trash. All 3 of us feel sick to our stomachs. I can’t get that rotten taste out of mouth. Every time I take a sip of a drink, the taste intensifies. Not even brushing the roof of my mouth and tongue is getting the taste out. I’m half Korean so I grew up on Korean food. I have to say that this was the worst Korean food I’ve ever had. I don’t know what’s happened to this place over the years, but it definitely has gone downhill.
