Ordered the carne asada for $30 absolutely not worth it. It was cooked chewy medium,Ranchera should be cooked well done. It has no flavor whats so ever, the salsa needed salt. Rice is from a box but the beans were good. Waste of money, first and last.

Had my doubts about this place, but it exceeded my expectations by a mile! Best Happy Hour in Oxnard. The food was great for the price, but the star of the show was the flan. Im not a sweets person but I would come back just for it. Also, highly recommend the passion fruit margaritas for margarita Mondays.

Our initial visit to Kalaveras exceeded our expectations, particularly after reading divided reviews. We celebrated my son’s 16th birthday, which coincidentally fell on a Tuesday, known as Taco Tuesday. The Happy Hour menu was satisfactory, with reasonably sized drinks. However, the tacos and elote were exceptional. We had a party of 11 adults and 3 children, along with 3 infants. The atmosphere was enjoyable for everyone. The food was of high quality. Cindy, our server, ensured that my son felt special on his birthday plus she was awesome helping our party. She and the staff were friendly and attentive. The birthday greeting was particularly memorable. While I suggest updating the birthday song to a more upbeat tune that aligns with the ambiance, overall, we highly recommend this establishment.

Fantastic lunch! The food, service and value was incredible. We had the Nachos as an appetizer….totally delicious. We also had the Enchiladas Verde and the hard taco…the best I have ever had. The food was very fresh and well prepared. Our server, Naydelin was very attentive and courteous. The manager, Diana did an excellent job ensuring the customers were well informed and the food and service met high standards. Highly recommend their lunch and will definitely be back to experience their dinner and brunch.

We had dinner there on valentine’s day. The food and service was good. The music however was SO LOUD I couldn’t even here my wife talking to me from the other side of the table. At one point , I was chewing on ice and couldn’t even hear it crunching..I guess it’d be fine if you don’t want to talk to the other person. I don’t think I would return only because the music was sooo loud.

We visited the restaurant now 3 times within 2 weeks and every time we were so happy with everything. We tried the combination menu with rice and beans and taco/enchilada and that was so good. My godness we both loved it. Very nice restaurant, clean restrooms and we will come back when we visit area in fall.

Tried out the taco Tuesday for the first time. Was very delicious and worth the price. Only thing is when you go up they have rice, beans and potatoes that is extra. So keep that in mind incase you want a side with your tacos. Otherwise all the taco condiments are free with your paid tacos. It was busy and there was a Birthday going on. Looks like they were short staffed on waitresses because our waitress kept us waiting 20 mins or so before coming back if we needed to order food or other essentials. Place is very lively and a little loud with the talking and music playing so if you wanna catch a vibe this is your spot. Happy hour drinks and apps was definitely a plus. Would come back again.

A nice midweek afternoon late lunch. The restaurant had only a couple other tables occupied, so we had the place to ourselves.
The decor was very modern and I kinda enjoyed that. The background music was also a more modern Mexican style music, again, I enjoyed it.
Chips and salsa to start at the table. The salsa was ice cold, obviously served straight from the refrigerator. I didn’t think it was anything special, although it looked tasty.
The margarita flight was fun to share. We got to taste 4 different margaritas of their choosing. Today, it was mango, hibiscus, cucumber and guava. Guava and mango for the win. Those tasted great. Props for the presentation as well.
The kala bowl was basically a salad/burrito bowl with a protein of your choosing. I chose asada and I’m glad I did. It was really tasty and had a slight char to it from the grill. The produce was fresh and another highlight was the grilled pineapple pieces. The bowl was excellent!
Overall, a really nice experience here!

The food here is absolutely delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. A special shout-out to Cindy, our waitress—she was amazing! Super attentive, friendly, and she had such a great smile that made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We felt right at home. Can’t wait to come back again—highly recommend!
