La Kalaka is my new favorite place for Mexican food. Food is truly dynamite, vast selection of street tacos and 3.99 taco Tuesdays on the menu. Every taco I tried was top notch, service attentive and friendly, warm rustic atmosphere too. Good repertoire of margaritas, and several salsas. Spice was mild for people who like less, but the Arbol pepper puree was superb as I like things spicy too! Love ❤️ Love this place. Looking forward to Tuesdays, I’ll bring my friends.

We had the pleasure of dining at Kalaka Mexican Kitchen in Evergreen last night, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The food was flavorful, fresh, and well-executed, with standout dishes that impressed even the more selective palate at our table.

My boyfriend, who typically isn’t a fan of Mexican cuisine, thoroughly enjoyed his trio of tacos—chicken, asada, and carnitas. Each was well-seasoned, generously filled, and served with care. His unexpected enthusiasm for the tacos speaks volumes about their quality.

I opted for the chicken spinach quesadilla, which exceeded expectations. This is far from your average quesadilla: packed with chicken, mushrooms, a hint of spinach, and just a touch of cheese, it offered a richer, more balanced flavor while feeling lighter and healthier than traditional versions.

The service was warm and welcoming, adding to the overall positive atmosphere. We’re already planning a return visit for Taco Tuesday, especially since the tacos are a fantastic value at just $3.99 each.

Kalaka has definitely earned a spot on our list of local favorites.

Update May 24, 2025: We dined at Kalaka again and had the Chicken Spinach Quesadilla and Chicken Enchiladas (photos included this time) and the complete dining experience was once again exceptional‼️

Now that they have permanently closed down The El Rancho in Evergreen, we needed a new spot to eat before concerts.

This place was amazing!

The food, the service, everything. Especially Karina, our hostess and server. She was the best!

Make sure to check it out if you’re coming through.

Love this place! Great drinks menu w beers and margaritas. Their tacos are phenomenal, really like how each taco has different toppings depending on the meat/protein filling. My parents and I shared an order of fajitas and a salad w chicken and two street tacos and it was the perfect amount.

I’ve visited twice for takeout. First time, I ordered online and was charged an extra $1 for that. Fine. Next time I ordered via phone and paid inside upon pickup. Only AFTER my card was charged did it show a 3% market surcharge fee. This was not on the website, nor disclosed in person.

Rather than adding obfuscated fees, management should consider raising menu prices. Customers value transparency.

As for the food, the ceviche was delicious on the first visit. The following time, I ordered the same, but it came with grocery store round tortilla chips instead of the original crispy strips. Of course the menu description didn’t change…

Massachusetts resident visiting Evergreen, CO, for a family wedding-Uber’d from DIA straight to Kalaka to kill 3 hours bf check-in at nearby hotel. The staff could not have been more welcoming or accommodating (party of 3, each with carry-on bags). The Coin Margaritas were handmade, delicious, & authentic. My follow-up Dos Equis Amber draft was ice cold & perfect. Four different salsas, chips, & tableside-made quacamole started us off. Each salsa had its own vibrant color, texture, & heat profile; all were outstanding. I had the Taco salad, sister had chicken & spinach quesadilla, & her spouse had a steak bowl (greens, rice, beans, etc). Generous servings, fresh everything, & every bite was flavorful as all get- out. Our server kept our water pitcher full (CO is soooo much drier than MA & we were parched) & made sure we were comfortable & well-stocked with whatever we needed. Learning that we were in town briefly for a wedding, our server surprised us with a complimentary dessert (picture), the style of which captures the unique atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The Margarita’s and vegetarian Fajitas were amazingly delicious. Here are a few things that were not great. It’s a Mexican restaurant, you expect chips and salsa for free as you’re waiting for your meal. Nope. They have a “chips and salsa” item on the menu that costs something like $15 and it’s a sampler of salsas (specifically 4, I only like 1 of the salsa’s) and chips. Those should be complimentary. Also, we asked for additional tortillas and a tiny side of salsa with the fajitas. Then when we got the bill, they charged us $2 for the tortillas and $1 extra for the tiny salsa!!! I’ve never been to a Mexican or any restaurant that would add such ridiculous extra costs that should be included with the meal. I apologize to our waitress, but that absolutely got taken out of her tip. Sorry, but come on!
