My husband and I first tried Kaijiken at their Hopkins location in Baltimore and were delighted to see that there’s one in Alexandria! The food is consistently amazing across locations—it comes out fast and hot, with just the right amount of noodles and toppings. We’re big fans of the sukiyaki, roast beef, and old bay aburasobas. On top of that, the service is amazing! They serve surprisingly good green tea, and when I asked them how they make it, they said they import it directly from Japan and brought me a small sample to brew at home. It’s always a treat to go back

Food was okay but I probably wouldn’t go back. I was seated by the host and sat there for about 10 minutes before the server acknowledged me to bring a drink or take my order. She just kept walking by me, and I felt almost rude having to try to get her attention. It wasn’t that busy and she was apologetic, but it was still off putting.

The ramen was just okay, not overly flavorful. The meat pieces were mostly fat, and you only get 1/2 an egg. I left feeling hungry. The food also wasn’t that hot. Most of the menu options contain pork, so not a lot of variety if you don’t like pork.

The design of the restaurant was neat, but they didn’t have music, which detracted from the atmosphere.

The food is so so delicious! One of my favorites and it was my first time! The noodles have the perfect amount of soup, and the texture is amazing, chewy and firm. The lighting and atmosphere is so nice with such aesthetic interior. Has such good portions as well, I was able to finish it and be full. Definitely visit for a birthday, we got a Labubu mini cake. The employees are super nice, patient and attentive

This felt more like abura soba than mazesoba. I went in without an expectation, but it was great! I wish they gave rice for oi meshi. It was very flavorful with a mixture of oil and vinegar. I’ll probably visit again to try other menu items! The server, who was working alone, handled about 6-8 tables amazingly!

First time here, I wanted to try the food since the pictures looked delicious, but I ended up disappointed.
I’m giving 2 stars only because the crepe cake was good.
How do you even overcook edamame?
The abura soba sauce was too heavy.
My friend had the ramen and said it was just okay.
Unfortunately, I won’t be back.

Great Japanese Spot – Worth a Visit!
I came here with a few friends, and we were all really impressed. The restaurant had a great atmosphere—very clean and inviting. The service was also excellent, with friendly and attentive staff.

I was pretty hungry, so I started with the Tebasaki wings—crispy and flavorful. I followed that with the Sukiyaki Don, which was a nice, smaller portion but packed with flavor. For my main dish, I had the Teriyaki Tori, and it hit the spot perfect for the warm day we visited.

We didn’t order any ramen soup this time since it was a bit warm outside, but based on everything else we tried, I’d definitely come back to try it. Overall, great food, solid service, and a clean, comfortable vibe. I’d recommend giving this place a try!

I’ll be very straight forward and honest. The food was very good. Very savory and a few spicy. However, if I wanted just the food I would’ve simply ordered for pick-up or delivery.

Decided to take my Girlfriend out on a date night to a very slow Friday night (surprisingly) here at Kajiken. We waited around 10 minutes to place an order while there were 5 tables in session. After ordering, our food came out within 4 minutes which was strangely fast, but It took 15 minutes for 2 glasses of water after getting our meal. We were never checked on the entire time until checkout.

Observing the atmosphere at the time, I could see that other customers were agitated and getting up out of their seats for service. I came to dine-in hoping that the service would be somewhat normally decent for a slow night but left disappointed. I will not be coming back.

I always love going to Kajiken, and I am obsessed with their Nagoya Style Abura Soba!

I come here once every week, or sometimes once every two weeks, because it is soo good! My always go to menu is the Sukiyaki with soft boiled egg. Their age tofu also so good! Super recommended!
