If you’re the type of person who judges a sushi spot by one thing above all else—the quality and freshness of the fish—then KAIZEN Sushi Bar & Grill is the real deal. From the first bite, it’s obvious they take pride in sourcing and handling: the fish tastes clean, bright, and ocean-fresh, with that silky texture you only get when everything is properly chilled, expertly cut, and served at the right moment. No off-notes, no heavy-handed tricks—just genuinely high-quality seafood that speaks for itself.
The Sushi Deluxe is an absolute standout and easily the best way to appreciate what KAIZEN does well. Each piece of nigiri feels deliberate: balanced portions of rice and fish, great temperature, and a freshness that comes through immediately. It’s the kind of plate where you don’t need to drown anything in soy sauce because the fish is already delivering all the flavor and sweetness you want. It’s simple, classic, and executed at a level that separates good sushi from great sushi.
On the roll side, the Kamakaze and Volcano rolls were both excellent—bold, satisfying, and still impressively well-composed. A lot of places go “big” with these styles of rolls and end up masking mediocre ingredients under sauces and crunch. Not here. These rolls have real flavor, great texture, and they’re built properly—tight rolls, clean cuts, and a balance that keeps each bite distinct instead of turning into a messy pile. They manage to be indulgent without being sloppy, which is harder than it sounds.
And a quick shout-out to something most places treat as an afterthought: the salads. The salads that came with the meal were fresh and vibrant, with a nice mix of greens—not the tired iceberg-only bowl you see at so many restaurants. It’s a small detail, but it reflects a bigger point: KAIZEN pays attention to the whole experience, not just the headline items.
Bottom line: KAIZEN Sushi Bar & Grill delivers the two things that matter most—top-tier fish quality and consistency—and backs it up with strong execution across the board. Food was rated 1 star for the main reason. My wife ordered a cucumber rolled in with the salmon & cream cheese (dietary reason, 1 roll $11.50), along with a JB roll with brown rice (1 roll $16.50).
~~WARNING~~ the sushi rolls have shrunk exponentially on both orders above, smaller than a fork (I have a picture of it as well). We have ordered at this restaurant at least (minimum) 15x, the rolls were of a very comfortable size equating to placing them on top of 2 forks.. I comfortably spoke to the Owner on why the sizes changed and why weren’t we informed of this prior to sitting down.
~~Owner – barely ever here~~ “this size has always been the same for 15yrs”….(((first of all, this restaurant has NOT been here for 15yrs)))… she continuously kept telling me I was wrong without an apology to her lying to us as loyal customers that her sizes have changed in 2x reduced sizes on an expensive price increase…
~~spoke to 3 waiters before departing~~
– all three of them have confirmed that the Owner changed the size of some sushi rolls to SAVE in costs….
Lying and cheating her customers on price gauges. Keep in mind we have ordered at the minimum of 15x and invited our friends and our family locally, we aren’t coming back.

There is a reason I keep coming back and keep re-reviewing. It’s all about consistency over time. In much the same way as a restaurant can have an off night or meal, it’s about the trends over time. That’s the true hallmark of a truly great restaurant and Kaizen is consistently on point! In fact, it is so good I have a hard time leaving my gold standards of the love and sexy rolls. Maybe sometime in the future, but if you’re in south Florida and looking for sushi – go no further. This place is it!

I went to try this place for the time with one of my friends.
We started with some drinks and the shrimp tempura. It was perfectly done! So tasty.
We chose to eat after that the SEXY ROLL, CALIFORNIA AND SHRIMP TEMPURA ROLL.
Personally my favorite was the sexy roll with spicy tuna, tempura shrimp and pineapple. The perfect combination of flavors.
Next time I will come to try the desserts. We didn’t have space for more. Everything was delicious and service was excellent.

I would give 10 stars if allowed. This place is AMAZING! Service like fine dining but without the price tag. The sirloin dinner was huge, the sushi rolls awesome, the tempura batter also amazing. Overall, best sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to. Skip Benihana – the wait is too long. Come here instead. Highly recommend!

Amazing restaurant in a great location.
The service was very nice and everything was very clean.
Parking was constantly rotating so there wasn’t much issue with people getting in and out.
Definitely some of the freshest sushi I have ever had. We had a mix of rolls with fish and scallops. The uni and exotic nigiri appetizers were great. Also some of the best fried rice I have had. The beef entree was also very good.
We have only good things to say. Can’t wait to be back!!

Kaizen sushi. A simple lunch tease that was aimed to please!
Had lunch with my good friend Doug who is a “Florida Foodie.” Needless to say his recommendation did not disappoint!
I had heard great things about Kaizen Sushi on Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale. So we took the opportunity to have a light lunch to introduce me to my first experience.
The food quality and preparation were excellent.
We started with a tempura shrimp & walnuts with a creamy sweet champagne glaze.m & wasabi drizzle. These shrimps were not over dressed in panko like most others provide. It was a light crisp coating that added the right crunch allowing the shrimp flavor to resonate. They were delicious.
We then shared a tempura soft shell crab that also offered a similar prep. Resting on a seaweed salad , the crab was Light, crisp, and flavorful!
We then tried something different. We ordered a flight of a variety of fresh tuna sushi. 4 varieties with 2 pieces each. The first was a tasty firm center cut tuna , the next was a fatty tuna , the third was an extra fatty tuna , and the last was tuna from the cheek. Each were amazing in their own way and simply prepared garnished only with toasted garlic pieces and a lightly flavored oil. Magnificent requiring no soy sauce at all. Pure perfection. I want to point out that each piece was so tender that they literally melted on your tongue. I had never had tuna like this before. Ever.
It was enough for lunch but I can tell you the menu is vast with items worthy of exploring. I can’t wait to go back with my wife and daughter this week to expand on my initial tasting tease.
